1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible 390 Auto
1967 Ford Galaxie Description
Very nice used 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. The current owners have owned the car for 20 years and now it's time for it to find a new family. This is a great car to go out for ice cream or just a nice evening cruise on the town.
Exterior:
The exterior is in good condition. The red is not the original color and is starting to chip off in places. The original gold color can be seen underneath the red where it's peeling. There are also some places where touch up paint was used and it didn't quite match. There is some rust poking through in a few of the usual places but it doesn't appear to be anything too major. The top does have some tears and would need to be replaced. The mechanics of the top works well. It goes up and down without binding and the pump sounds good. The current owners only use the car during nice weather, otherwise it lives most of its life in the garage. The glass is all intact with no chips or cracks. The windshield does have some etching from one of the wipers. The chrome has some pitting in places and there are a couple small cracks in the bumper, so it isn't perfect.
Drive train:
The car is powered by a 390 cubic inch two barrel V8 with a 3 speed automatic transmission. The transmission has a clunk when shifting into reverse but work fine otherwise. It drives nicely down the road and shifts smoothly.
The engine does have the usual fluid seepagein places for a car this age but there are no major leaks of any fluids. The engine starts up nicely and runs smooth.
Interior:
The black vinyl interior has newer carpeting with no holes or tears. The seats are in very nice shape and don't have any tears. The steering wheel and dash have some cracking from sun damage. The switch for the top has been replaced with a toggle that isn't original to the car. The speedometer works well and the odometer reads a little over 104K. The reverse lights flash when changing gears but do not stay on when backing up.
Overall this car is ready to drive and enjoy the way it is for years to come, or it would make a solid foundation for a restoration project.
