1954 Ford F-350 Custom Description

1954 FORD F-350 TOW TRUCK. TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES JUST LIKE A 1954 MODEL SHOULD. THE PTO WINCH WORKS, POWER IN AND OUT. VERY SOLID SHEETMETAL WITH THE ONLY RUST BEING FROM A SHOP RAG STUFFED INTO THE DRIVERS REAR CAB CORNER FOR DECADES. ITS A SMALL SPOT BUT WORTH MENTIONING AND I INCLUDED A PHOTO. FRAME, FLOORS, ROOF ETC ARE ALL VERY SOLID. DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW HAS SOME CRACKS BUT STILL WORKS WELL. WINDOW REGULATORS AND DOOR LATCHES WORK VERY GOOD. VACUUM WIPERS ARE NOT CONNECTED SO IM UNSURE IF THEY OPERATE. THE WEAVER CRANE IN THE BED ACTUALLY PREDATES THE TRUCK AND HAS BEEN MODIFIED A BIT FOR THIS APPLICATION, BUT IS A COOL EXAMPLE OF HOW THINGS WERE DONE MANY YEARS AGO. IT DOES HAVE THE HANDLE FOR THE CRANE, I HAVE PICKED UP SOME FAIRLY HEAVY ITEMS WITH IT.
IT HAS BEEN A TEXAS TRUCK FOR AS LONG AS MY RECORDS SHOW GOING BACK TO THE 1970'S. IT WAS PAINTED RED/WHITE/BLUE IN 1976 FOR THE BICENTENIAL. IT WAS PARKED IN A BARN AROUND 1986 AND SAT THERE UNTIL OCT 2019 WHEN I PURCHASED IT.
NEW BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, HOSES AND WHEEL CYLINDERS WERE NEEDED TO GET THE BRAKES IN ORDER.NEW FUEL TANK, PUMP AND HOSES WERE NEEDED TO GET THE FUEL SYSTEM WORKING, YEARS AGO IT HAD AN ELECTRIC PUMP ADDED SO I JUST ADDED AN ELECTRIC PUMP AS WELLIT HAS 4 NEW TIRES, THE INNER DUALS ARE OLD AND OUT OF ROUND FROM BEING FLAT, BUT DO HOLD AIRI ADJUSTED THE VALVETRAIN AND INSTALLED NEW PLUGS AS WELL AS A SPIN ON OIL FILTER. AFTERMARKET OIL AND TEMP GAUGES WERE ADDED UNDER THE DASH. NEW BELTS, HOSES AND A FEW MISC REPAIRS.
KINGPINS, STEERING LINKAGE ETC ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, NO EXCESSIVE PLAY. BRAKES STOP GREAT. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GOOD WITH NO GRINDING IF YOU ARE SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH DRIVING AN OLDER PICKUP. CLUTCH IS IN GOOD SHAPE. TRUCK RUNS VERY SMOOTH AND QUIET, ITS ACTUALLY PRETTY IMPRESSIVE FOR AN OLDER TRUCK. ENGINE IS A 239 CUBIC INCH Y BLOCK. FIRST YEAR OF THE Y BLOCK. BLINKERS, HEADLIGHTS, FLASHING LIGHT ON TOP AND RUNNING LIGHTS ALL WORK. HORN WORKS. THE FUEL, OIL AND TEMP GAUGES IN THE CLUSTER WERE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO ME OWNING IT, BUT HAS THE AFTERMARKET GAUGES UNDER THE DASH. THE REAR AXLE DOESNT LEAK ENOUGH TO DRIP ON THE GROUND, BUT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN SEEPING FROM THE PINION SEAL FOR MANY YEARS. ENGINE AND WINCH LEAK A BIT OF OIL, BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR ME TO JUSTIFY REPAIRING THEM, BUT IT WILL LEAVE ITS MARK WHEN IT SITS OVERNIGHT. NIETHER ARE WHAT ID CONSIDER MAJOR LEAKS. WIRING APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL FOR THE MOST PART, FUNCTIONAL BUT OLD.
OVERALL IT IS A VERY SOLID TRUCK THAT IS READY TO TAKE OUT FOR A DRIVE, ALTHOUGH I WOULDNT TAKE IT HALFWAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY OR ANYTHING. I HAVE PUT AROUND 500 MILES ON IT SINCE I HAVE HAD IT AND IT HASNT GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE. LIKE ANY OLD TRUCK IT HAS SOME AREAS THAT COULD USE SOME ATTENTION BUT DO FUNCTION AS IS. I HAVE DESCRIBED THE VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO MESSAGE ME.
PAYMENT TO BE ARRANGED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE. BUYER TO ARRANGE SHIPPING OR PICKUP.
