classic vintage chrome fomoco stang pony car 351 v8 3-speed auto transmission go
1969 Ford Mustang Description
The 1969 Ford Mustang is arguably the best year for the first-generation coupes. So when you take one of these sleek machines, and give it a performance-built V8, four-wheel disc brakes, and slick custom paint then you know you're looking at style AND substance.
The 1969 Mustang is often the sought-after design. It carries much of the original icon's appearance, but many features are elongated to give it a more muscular presence on the streets. This one definitely goes for the meaner end of the pony car crowd as the full-length dual black stripes coordinate very well with the blacked-out grille and shaker hood scoop that hints at the power lurking underneath (more on that in a moment.) This coupe has the right kind of history you want with a long-term single-family ownership for decades (the low odometer is even believed to reflect actual mileage.) But this also has been given all the best upgrades along the way. After all, the factory never offered a color like this, and instead, the Smoky Gold Pearl was borrowed from Harley-Davidson. The gray with golden undertones is such an awesome look that even the front and rear spoilers were painted to match. Nice chrome bumpers, straight body lines, and polished two-tone wheels all contribute to an overall look of uniqueness and quality.
The black accents of the exterior get you ready for the full black interior. There was an investment here later in life that included new seat covers, door panels, dash pad, and carpeting. It keeps a vintage look, right down to the Philco AM radio that's still there for display. But there also some nice upgrades. The factory air conditioning now runs on modern R134a refrigerant (will need a recharge.) And the Grant GT sports steering wheel and column-mounted SunPro tach let you know this coupe delivers an upgraded driving experience. The engine bay has a clean and tidy look of power. Ford's 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8 is a hardy moto, and so it's terrific to see a full professional build like this. We have a receipt with the full list of upgrades, but the highlights include, bored .030 over, a SCAT cast steel crank -3.850 stroke, Comp Cams 35-426-8 hydraulic roller camshaft, aluminum heads, Edelbrock Racing valve covers, and a double-pumper four-barrel carburetor. And there are all the right supporting component, like an MSD ignition, MSD distributor, new hoses, and a large aluminum radiator w/electric fans. Power steering and a three-speed automatic transmission are great for making this powerful pony and easy driver. And the upgrade to four-wheel disc brakes with drilled rotors means superior stopping power.
