1973 Ford Mustang Mach One Well Over $10k in Receipts Since 2017 Engine Rebuild, Brakes & Suspension Refresh, Interior Restoration Originally Medium Brown Metallic on Ginger Knit Vinyl Currently Matte Black on Black Vinyl 351 Cleveland / C6 Automatic VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 3F05H249375 3: 1973 Model Year F: Dearborn, Michigan Assembly Plant 05: Mach 1 H: 351-2V Ram Air 249375: Serial Paint: Medium Brown Metallic (5H) Trim: Medium Ginger Mach 1 Knitted Vinyl (GF) Transmission: C6 Automatic (U) Axle: 2.75 Standard (2) Build Date: June 1973 District Sales Office: Davenport, Iowa (56) We purchased this ‘73 Mach One from a woman in Minnesota who had owned the car since 2014. Throughout her ownership this car had been a gradual restoration project and has evolved into a pretty killer driver. While the car no longer sports the fantastic original colorway of Medium Brown Metallic on Ginger Knit Vinyl, the car runs like a top, having had the original 351 Cleveland rebuilt in 2017, and the car can be used and enjoyed as-is. Please see the photos of service records to see exactly what has been done as of late, and the video along with the listing to get a good look at overall cosmetic condition. Exterior: Records indicate that the car was prepped and painted “hot rod black” in early 2018. Paint presents well, but it definitely wasn’t the most professional job. There aren’t dust nibs, paint run, or anything super glaring like that, but there’s for sure some filler/bondo on this car in the typical rust-prone spots, ie the lowest corners, like just behind the rear wheels. There’s some pretty poor rust repair in the rearmost corner of the driver’s door jamb as well. This car will not be winning any shows, and the previous owner overpaid in the $16k (!!!) of restoration costs since 2017, but man is this car a riot on the road. The engine was beautifully done by Wagamon Bros of Minneapolis. Glass is clear and crack-free, rear louver is nice and intact, panel fitment is good, very little for chips or road wear as the car was painted just a couple years ago. Polished wheels are very nice, with minimal oxidation, and both the Cragar wheels and BFG Radial TAs were new in 2018. Interior: Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior looks really good aside from the burst seam in the driver’s seat bottom. In 2018 the interior was removed and the door panels, headliner, dash pad, seat belts, sill panels, sun visors, wood grain inserts, steering wheel, shifter bezel, carpet, and window regulators were are replaced. While the interior was out, the gas tank also came out, and all the bare inside and trunk was Dynamatted (sealant, also helps with road noise). Interior drawbacks include the aforementioned burst seam on the driver’s seat bottom, the center dash vent piece is missing, and this car will not come with any floormats. Roll up windows track as they should, weatherstripping is a bit tired. Gauges are all functional, lights and signals are all functional, wipers and wiper sprayers are functional. Radio does not work. Five-digit dometer reads 39,870….actual, correct mileage from new is unknown. Underbody/Under the Hood: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Floor and trunk pans were replaced in 2017 and the car will come with records for this work. Details of the engine, suspension, and interior work are shown in the records in the photo gallery as well. This car fires right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls HARD through the gears, shifts smoothly, doesn’t clunk going into gear, sounds fantastic, and brakes straight and effectively. A proper Mach 1 hot rod. If you’re looking for a driver rather than a show car and don’t mind the far non-original colorway, this car is a great option. It deserves to get out of the city, and be out in the country where it can be wound out and enjoyed!
