THE INTERNATIONAL CAR
1980 Ford Fiesta MK I
This car model was made in Germany for the U.S. market and imported into the U.S. from 1978 to 1980. The engine was made in Great Britain, a 1.6L 75 bph "Kent". Early versions of the same engine were used in modified form by Lotus.
U.S. version is nearly impossible to find in such beautiful condition!
"The popularity of the Fiesta is defined by its amazing sales success," said Ford of Britain's Marketing Director, Steve Hood. "It's been in the top 10 best-selling cars in Britain since 1977 - a feat unmatched by any other car. In 1990, 1991, and 1996-98, the Fiesta was Britain's best-selling car outright, and in its best-ever year, 1987, over 150,000 Fiesta models were sold in Britain."
This is the "Standard" model, one-owner car that has been garaged for most of its existance, driven occasionally since retired from daily use. On showing at an all British Field Meet, it won a Bronze award in Special Category. It has Washington state collector plates. With just over 165,000 miles on an engine that typically will run for many more, it drives great! The front & back struts have been replaced. It may need a radiator soon, and new tires - 155R12. The interior is all original and the body has no rust. There is a tear in the upholstery on the top of the back rest in the back. (See photos) There is one spot of superfical rust in the engine compartment,in front of the battery tray. Otherwise, the body and engine compartment are clear. It has a new headliner. The aluminum bumpers were stripped of yellowing clear vinyl and then polished.Maintenance history list is available upon request.
