1965 Ford Mustang coupe; 170ci Six in line; manufactured in Dearborn, MI
1965 Ford Mustang Description
This is a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang coupe in great condition! I have owned it for eight years and love it - but have to make room in the garage and to be honest, I'm just not driving it enough these days.
I have priced this to sell - not to gouge anyone. It is a fun car and I want it to go to a good home! The reserve is low.
It's a fantastic car, but it's not in show condition. It runs and drives well. It's a perfect car to fix up over the holidays and get ready for spring. Rims, tires and hubcaps are in great shape.
Early on I replaced the clutch, had front disc brakes put in and a five-speed transmission. Kept all the original parts and will include these in the sale. It's a four - now a five - speed on the floor. Had the spring pivot bushing replaced (front driver's side), new flywheel installed, rebuilt the drive shaft, rebuilt the carburetor, installed a new fuel sending unit and replaced the engine mounts.
There are minor things that need to be fixed and I am very upfront about these. You'll see pictures of most items and I can send additional pictures if you need. Please be clear that you're purchasing a vehicle that runs well but is in need of several small updates/repairs:
1. Speedometer just quit - not sure if it's the cable or in need of a rebuilt speedo.2. The passenger-side front parking light housing is crappy and needs replacing.3. There are several small chips in the paint.4. The interior headliner is original and needs replacing.5. The interior panels are ok, but could use some work. Seats are good with one crack in passenger seat. Back dashboard was modified before me to hold two speakers and I've never gotten rid of them. Visors look original and are tired, but work.6. Front dash is good, but someone modified the radio cutout to accommodate a bigger radio - then re-covered the excess hole with sheet metal to match the grille. It works and doesn't look too bad, but should be re-done to original.7. There are nicks in the chrome bumpers.8. I've never used the windshield wiper spray - the bag is there and hooked up inside the engine compartment.
In sum:Good paint, but there are chips in it. Passenger side light housing needs replacement. Good dash (not perfect) and all instruments work except speedometer. Interior is good, but needs new headliner and some loving care of panels and seats. Engine is good and it's a peppy car that's fun to drive. She leaks just a touch of oil off of the bottom of the oil pan - not much. The clutch chatters a little and I think it needs adjusting. Clutch pedal is slow to return, but she shifts fine. New front disc brakes. New five-speed tranny and drive shaft. She is quick, runs well and stops really well!
You are welcome - and encouraged - to schedule an inspection. If you choose to waive an inspection, do plan to have a detailed and transparent conversation with me regarding the vehicles condition. Ask questions upfront - I have nothing to hide and want you to love this car. All questions are welcome!
