1967 Ford Fairlane 1967 Fairlane Convertible RARE 390 Promotional Show Car Description

1967 Fairlane ConvertibleMarti Report VerifiedFactory Ford Promotional Show Car13th Fairlane Built for '67!Factory Z-Code 390 4 BarrelFactory Power TopLooking for something nearly nobody else has? This Fairlane is one of just a few that Ford built back in 1966 to bring to auto shows to showcase the new offerings for '67. There are some weird pieces on the car such as the Z-Code 390 with 300 Horsepower and 427lb/ft of torque rather than the common S-Code 390. Fairlane convertibles are rare to begin with, why not start out with one of the TRUE originals, good old #13?Unfortunately when the car came to us it was missing the factory tachometer that would have been mounted on the dash pad. They are readily available but can be pricey, $500 and up. Also the factory steering wheel was missing, about a $250 item. The paint is older with touch ups and imperfections. The body on this Fairlane is in overall good condition. There are a couple of repairs that were done, however the body still presents fairly well. The frame rails, torque boxes, trunk floors, firewall, etc are all still quite solid and nice. There have been some amateur floor repairs but new reproduction pans are included to set things right.Inside the interior is still the born with pieces with the carpets removed. The seats are complete and the restoration endeavor should be an easy and straight forward project. This would be a good time to consider the XL Bucket Seat conversion if that is the path you choose.Under the hood the 390 runs excellent. It is reported to have very low miles on the rebuild, though no receipt documentation was provided. 1967 was the last year that VIN stamps were not required on vehicle engines. The date code on the block precedes the production on this car by a larger than accepted time so consider it a non date correct engine. It does fire up easily and sounds quite nice. The convertible top is obviously tired after all this time. The mechanism appears to be in good order. The latches are precisely in place and it took none of the normal wrestling to latch the top down. The hydraulic motor works but the hoses are old and brittle. While putting the top down for pics it began leaking and when the top came back up the hose then failed completely on the passenger side. The hose kits are inexpensive and while the top was off would be the best time to service the system and replace the hoses. This one has been stored for years and we would recommend a thorough systems inspection prior to any dedicated or long distance drives. For transport we recommend Mike's Discount Auto Transport.
