$104,000 restoration! It is mechanical jewelry. I spoke with the gentleman that restored this car for a wealthy collector. There were 28 premium cars in the collector's estate. This was a no expense spared restoration, stripped down until there was nothing more to take apart. Every piece was replaced or restored. There is a detailed restoration log book. The 79,000 miles on the odometer is original, only 1,500 miles since finished.
It is also a rare and special car. #1,051 of 2,000 Principality of Monaco limited editions made. The package includes dark rose color landau top, padded dash and carpet. It also features wood grain trim and genuine leather upholstery. Ford presented car #1 to Prince Ranier of Monaco.
EXTERIOR: The body was taken down to a bare shell. The body has no rust at all. It is straight and the panels fit precisely. It was repainted it's original corinthian white using premium primer sealer and acrylic paint. Every single piece of chrome was replated to show quality. Every single piece of stainless trim was straightened and polished like new. When I say every piece of trim, I mean every piece from the window frames to the headlight bezels. Those are restored original Kelsey Hayes wires wheels ($3,500) with Thunderbird spinners. All 5 tires are Good Years. The glass is original, it was removed and polished. The rose color top is also the original in very nice condition. The door jambs are painted slick, the latches were replated. All weather strips and seals were replaced.
INTERIOR: Absolutely first class. Glove soft white leather upholstery, wood grain trim, rose color accents and plenty of sparkling chrome. It was completely gutted including the dash and console. They lined it with sound deadener. The dash pad was reupholstered. The components in the dash were restored and reinstalled, everything functioned. The heater box was apart and restored. It has the swing away wheel which was professionally restored. The center console was restored. New rose carpet was installed and some custom Thunderbird mats. The seats were restored, recushioned and reupholstered. The seats are all leather, no vinyl. It has the correct chrome piping. New white headliner and visors. The door panels look new. Right down to the little bits and pieces, everything is beautiful looking. It features power windows and locks, both systems were rebuilt. It has functional power seat. Every light works, every bulb in the car was replaced. The original radio was rebuilt with modern guts.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is concourse restored in the engine compartment. The components are rebuilt and detailed. The 390-300 hp motor was completely rebuilt, a spec sheet is included. It runs smooth. The exhaust manifolds were ceramic coated. The air conditioning system was completely restored. It features power steering and brakes. The hinges are cadmium plated, it has the hood insulation, reproduction stickers and the washer bag. Every last nut and bolt it is like new.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Meticulously restored. It has the complete liner package. Behind the left flap is the restored jack assembly. The spare is a matching new Good Year tire. It also includes the original hubcaps, a very high quality soft car cover and a whole stack of books and assembly manuals.
UNDERSIDE: It is outstanding, literally every nut and bolt looks new. The front end was completely removed, disassembled, rebuilt, detailed and reinstalled. The rear suspension is new as well, it has coil over shocks. The dual exhaust is stainless from tip to tip. The bottom of the motor and all it's components still look new. The Cruise-O-Matic was rebuilt and is detailed. The rear end was completely rebuilt and detailed. It has 3.00 posi gears. The fuel system was replaced- tank, sending unit and lines. The brakes were completely restored, e-brake assembly is complete. The floors have no rust, they have been prepped and sealed.
I look at thousands of cars and I could spot the difference in this one. I did not know the back story, the car spoke for itself. It was professionally appraised at $93,000 after restoration was finished. I find great pleasure in just admiring this car, driving it is even better!
