Being extremely well cared for, maintained and pampered its entire life, this car was sparingly used which explains the documented low mileage and excellent condition throughout. To top it off, of the 4,118 California Special’s built, only 76 were ordered with the X-Code 390 C.I engine. Of those 76, there are only 9 left that are known to exist! As you look through the photos you will see that the exterior of this Mustang is absolutely gorgeous. Having had one professional repaint in its highly desirable and original color Meadowlark Yellow over a laser straight rust free and original body makes you wonder why there were only 317 ordered with this stunning paint & trim combination. The chrome, soft trim, and bright work are in good condition as is the original vinyl top complimenting the exterior nicely. Even the glass is “dated” and original including the windshield! Treated with a newer set of 215/70/14 Bridgestone “White Sidewall” tires that are wrapped around the original Argent Styled Steel Wheels keeps this Big Block glued to the road.

As you open the doors to this California Special you’re introduced to its beautiful and all original deluxe interior. Everything inside is in excellent condition including the seats, dash, gauges, vents, radio, upper & lower consoles, door panels, and steering wheel. The AM radio, speakers, gauges, dome & dash lights, etc are in great working order including the optional “in dash” clock!

Under the hood houses the factory born with X-Code 390 C.I. engine that is nicely detailed and retains all the good manners installed at Ford’s San Jose assembly plant. Sitting underneath the correct two barrel air cleaner, the original date correct Autolite 2100 Carburetor and date correct 2 Barrel Intake Manifold are matched to this desirable FE power plant. Not only does the block show a date of April (D) 05th (5) 1968 (8), but it also has a partial VIN number stamped into the backside that matches this car. Having been professionally gone through and rebuilt assures that this engine performs as good as it looks! During this time, the engine compartment was carefully cleaned and detailed, keeping most of the factory paint on the radiator support and inner fender aprons. The hood hinges, latch, and other bare pieces were also cleaned and coated to protect them from rust or damage. To finish things off correctly, the engine was fitted with reproduction “dated” Autolite plug wires, heater & radiator hoses, clamps, etc ensuring to keep its factory look!
