1955 Ford Thunderbird w/both tops
1955 Ford Thunderbird Description
I'm selling my 1955 Ford Thunderbird due to health concerns. I'm 79 years old with heart and spine problems -- can hardly walk let alone drive a vehicle. My car is an original 1955 still with the factory 6 volt system. It starts and runs fine. The pictures alone are an indication of the shape of the car. However, 'll elaborate a bit. The paint color is correct and the repaint is roughly 11 or 12 years old. There are a few small paint spots starting to bubble but nothing serious. From 10' away, hey can't be noticed. Anyway, good body/paint shop can easily take care of this. The car has crank windows and the only non original item on the car are 1956 Thunderbird wing windows which are better for air flow with the top down. The vehicle is equipped with power steering and power seats. However, he new seat motor which is behind the seats seems to function in an odd manner -- perhaps I have crossed some wires. The seats, oor and kick panels are in good shape. The dash is original including the 6 volt radio, nd everything works except the radio but that's not unusual for these vehicles. The vacuum system is good but the wipers are slow. Again, his is not unusual for vacuum wipers. A squirt or two of silicone lubricant in the intake to the wiper motor/pump under the dash should help -- but there is no way I can do that in my condition. Both the soft top and hard top (original 55 with no port hole) are like new. Recently, new (rebuilt) Holly "teapot" carb was installed and needs a bit more adjusting. The brakes are fine as well as the running gears. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. The car has new red Thunderbird floor mats. Also, recently removed the wire wheels as they need refurbished and installed new 6.70 X 15 Coker classic WW tires and full cover caps on the original steel rims. Of course, he wire wheels and spinners go with the sale plus extra tires and the car cover. Both mufflers are new. The car has new shocks. The ignition system including plugs, oints, iring, tc have just been redone. I almost forgot but the horn ring is broken and needs replaced. Overall, his is a nice vehicle not without a few minor concerns and the car could use a younger owner. I'd guess that less than $1,000 in labor and parts would put the car in top or much better shape. I will require $1,000 down to Paypal and the remainder in the form of a certified bank check or cash when the car is picked up. I'm in Belington, V and my telephone number is 304-823-1992.
