1963 Ford Galaxie Description

Greetings-

Up for sale is my 1963 Ford Galaxie named Bertha. I bought her a little over 3 years ago to be my beach cruiser and other than replacing the starter, I have had no issues.

I bought Bertha on EBay from a gentleman in NC who had spent 4 years painstakingly restoring the car. Mechanically and structurally, everything is sound- Every hose, bushing, brake part, gas tank, wire, suspension, steering system, you name it, was inspected, repaired and replaced (receipts will be included). The engine, a 352 was overhauled, the 4bbl carb was rebuilt, and the exhaust replaced. The interior was custom made using NOS vinyl and new bumpers were installed. At that point he got married and some of his projects had to go. When I got her only paint and body work was needed- It should be noted that though all mechanical work was done over 3 years ago, I've only put about 1,000 miles on it.

About 6 months after I got her, I decided to paint her myself- that being said I had never painted a car before. I spent a couple of weeks stripping her all the way down to metal, primed her with 4 coats and finished with a single stage blue/white urethane from Eastwood Co. I didn’t add any clear coat because I heard it was very tricky to deal with. So in essence, Bertha is “flat toned”. There are a couple of runs and a slight fade on the roof, but overall it looks good. I do have leftover paint that will go with the car- plenty for touching up.

In the 3 years since I've painted it, the edges of the hood and trunk have started to rust and will need to be addressed. Also, there are some rust bubbling on the bottom of 2 of the doors. When I stripped them down, I thought I had addressed it, but apparently not. The left side rear passenger panel has some bondo, why I’m not sure, since that panel was replaced with a new one, but it’s there. Oh, and the clock doesn’t work. Other than touching up the paint and some very minor body work there isn't much in the way of surprises. This can be an easy project or enjoyable ride as is.
