1970 Ford Mustang Description
1970 MUSTANG MACH 1 351 M CODE 4 V CLEVELAND SHAKER 4 SPEED AIR CONDITIONING AND MUCH MORE
VIN 0RO5M - - - - - -
We are reluctantly selling our that we have had for over 10 years because I am no longer able to drive a manual transmission car . It is originally from Reno Nevada but has been in the California desert are most of the time and it still has the vintage blue California license plates on it.
BODY
The body is 110% rust free . The floors, quarters, and fender aprons etc are original with all the factory spot welds . There are a couple of small flaws where there was a small ding repair but these are minor.
PAINT
The body was stripped to the bare metal for paint by the previous owner and he did the few small ding repairs that were needed then resprayed it with high quality single stage PPG paint, however, the person he had paint it was in the Air Force with him and was not a professional painter, so it looks decent from 30 feet away but up close one can tell that it was not done by a professional although it does still look quite decent, especially for a driver grade job which is how I would rate it, which is also why I am not asking $40,000.00 or more for it.
INTERIOR
He redid the entire interior with new high quality TMI stock type seat covers, stock white headliner, and new ACC molded carpet, and these items are still extremely nice looking, however, the rear plastic panels next to the rear seat have some chips and one has a crack where the fold down seat would go . These panels are repairable but they also sell new panels for around $100.00 and they are easy to change.
DASH BEZELS AND GAUGES
The wood grain is often faded or lifting on the bezels in these deluxe interior cars and the chrome lining around the outside of the gauges is usually faded and looks bad or has been poorly redone with silver paint and a brush which also looks bad, however, the wood grain and the chrome lining on these looks virtually showroom new and would easily be useable on a $250,000.00 BOSS 429 . The cost to do properly redo just the chrome on the bezel is around $600.00 if it needs to be done and these bezels do NOT need it redone.
The factory red color on the speedo dial and the needles in all the gauges look like new with no fading at all.
TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH
This has a top loader transmission . It shifts smoothly and does not grind when shifting and does not pop out of gear when decellerating in gear which means it is in perfect working order.
The clutch pressure plate (clutch cover) is a new Mcleod 3 finger pressure plate just like the original but it has a slightly higher spring pressure than stock so it won't slip if you drive it hard which we actually never did . The disc is their series 100 street disc which is similar to the stock design but is made with better materials.
There is no pulsing of the clutch pedal when you depress it which there sometimes is with these types of pressure plates if they the finger height is not set up properly .
There is absolutely zero chatter when letting the clutch out like there often is with older manual trans cars if everything is not in proper working order.
ENGINE
The previous owner was a mechanic in the Air Force and told me he rebuilt the engine and built it to basically stock specs so it has a stock type cam and stock exhaust manifolds and stock intake manifold . The carburetor is a Holley . It has a nice sound at idle and runs very strong.
ENGINE TEMPERATURE
This is a very important factor that few people think of . After many years, these engines get rebuilt and sometimes get bored out so far that they tend to run hot unless the cooling system is upgraded, especially if they have air conditioning . This particular engine runs right where it should on the gauge and never overheats even in 100 degree heat with the ac on.

IN 1970, Ford used a HURST shifter in their 4 speed cars which included the BOSS 302 and BOSS 429 . This shifter is extremely rare and extremely expensive and is not reproduced . There is currently one on Ebay for $900.00 . This car still has that factory shifter and the chrome on the handle is very nice with no pitting or flaking.

It has a 9" differential with a posi and 3.00 gears.
BRAKES

The trunk has a high quality reproduction rubber mat.
