1964 Ford Falcon Futura Sports Convertible
1964 Ford Falcon Description
For sale is my 1964 Ford Falcon convertible. In 1964, prior to the release of the Mustang, this was Ford's pony car. In fact, the early Mustangs were built on the Falcon platform. The model list for the 64 Falcon convertible was either the Sprint, the Futura or the Futura Sport. Both the Sprint and the Futura Sport came standard with bucket seats and console, in essence, the Sprint and the Futura Sport were the same car except for the badging and the fact that the Sprint only came with the 164 HP 260 V-8 and the Futura Spring could be ordered with the 101 Hp 170 in-line 6.This car was ordered with the Futura Sports package, the 260 V-8 and the 4 speed manual transmission.
The door tag reads as follows:

First 5 of the VIN are 4H12F'F' is for 260 V-8
Per the DSO, the car was shipped to the Oklahoma City district and spent it's whole life on OK and TX. No corrosion damage from salt anywhere on this car. It has a couple patches to the rear floor, don't forget to put the top up if it's going to rain, but no structural damage. There has also been work done on the passenger rear quarter in front of the tire, most likely due to a plugged up drain hole. Overall a very solid rust free car. See underside pics.
The Falcon runs, drives and stops excellent. No squeaks, rattles or shifting body like so many old convertibles. It is tight and solid. The 260 was replaced at some point with a date code correct 289 and it runs smooth and strong, It has been upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold and Performer 4 barrel carb, Pertronix electronic ignition module and long tube headers that carry a very mellow note all the way out the back. The clutch is very sure and the tranny shifts very smooth with all synchro's working properly. The stock 8" rear end has been upgrade with a 3.50 open center section for a little better performance. All new brakes, master clyinder, wheel cylinders, brakes shoes and lines flushed and new DOT 3 put in. New shocks front and rear with air shocks installed on the back to keep things level. All new tires with 205/60R15 Perelli's on the front and 225/60R15 Falken's on the rear.Replaced the front idler arm and bushings and followed up with a 4 wheel alignmennt. Also, this car does not leak one drop of any kind of fluid oroil from anywhere!
The interior is totally redone with new seat upholstery front and back, door and rear quarter side panels, new carpet and many new chrome accessory pieces.
On the outside the convertible top and boot are new, and the power top works flawlessly. The paint is better than driver quality with just a couple of flaws. One is on the rear deck where maybe some prep work wasn't properly cured but you have to look to see it and it does not detract from the rest of the car. It's hard to even see in the pic I took of it. The paint really is slick and shines beautifully. My rating would be 9 out of 10.
Stainless and chrome are again in great driver quality condition, new tail light lenses and all lights and gauges work. The fuel gauge does not go quite to full or the tank is filling totally but when it says empty it is. The original radio is in place and is not operative.
All in all, this is just a really nice car and no offense Mustang guys, but it's not a Mustang. Go to the car show with 20 Mustangs and I bet your the only Falcon convertible there. Also these cars have more room that an early Mustang, I'm 6'2" and have plenty of leg room and is very comfortable.
