Introduced in the mid 1974, the "Elite" which was based on the Ford Torino but essentially was a Mercury Cougar XR-7 with some restyling. Ford introduced the "Elite" to compete with Chevrolet's Monte Carlo and the Chrysler Cordoba and advertised the car as a more affordable luxury car than the Thunderbird. This 1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite is powered by its original, rebuilt 351 CID Cleveland V8 Engine and is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. The car has just 78, 456 on the odometer, which are believed to be original miles, with the engine only having 2,500 miles on the rebuild. This car was brought back here to the Midwest a few years ago from California and was very well preserved. The current owner had the car repainted back in 2011 with a gorgeous blue exterior color and also had the white vinyl top replaced which complement each other very nicely.
