I am listing my two 1993 Geo Metro Xfi's in two separate listings. This listing is for the one with black rockers. It has the original Geo 12 inch wheels.
The good ol' boy I bought this off of was a auto parts guy and he had bought this from a friend and that friend from a friend or so and it has stayed in Georgia it's whole life I believe. He told me he rebuilt the top half. Both Metro's still have their original unique camshaft though. I drove this car a great deal on my 12 mile commute and maintained it very well since buying it in 2011. I charted the mileage in it and would sometimes get close to 60 mpg's out on the highway.
When I relocated to the country in 2013 I parked it and didn't drive it much. In late 2014 I did at times noticed some hesitation on hills. Took it to a local mechanic and he proceeded to replace the timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, coil, plugs, wires and a few more nickle and dimes. Would run fine but then would still bog down. I asked him to change the fuel filter, he wouldn't, said it was getting fuel. Finally I made time to get up under there and do it myself and the the car improved 75%. I did go up to the shop and look at the tank when the mechanic had it off for the fuel pump replacing and saw the crud, still he didn't think it needed a fuel filter. Come to find out the mechanic is new around here and has nickle & dimed a few people like me,
So now that I put in the fuel filter the car still would hesitate but nowhere near as bad. I didn't drive it on the highway after that though and wouldn't until it has a complete fuel system flushing. I do drive it around my backyard and keep it running once or twice a week. Other than this one problem I have had no other mechanical problems with the car. I did hydroplane at 5 mph into a truck a few years ago and had to get a hood from the junk yard. Tires are pretty new on both cars. I think I replaced a couple bearings on it at some point and a cv joint as well.
Also I disabled the auto door locks a long time ago, they never work right anyway and can drain your battery. THERE IS NO RUST! The drivers side door release just broke on both of my Metros. It still works from the inside. You can buy replacement door releases on Ebay for around 6-10 bucks. I've had to do this a few times, not a hard fix.
If I can think of any other things I will add them to this listing. I'm sure if you are looking at this car, you know about their legendary gas mileage and ease to work on. I'm not a mechanic at all but was able to maintain these. Look up Geo Metro Xfi's and the Geo Metro Forum-Got MPG's if you want to know about these cars. I do know when the gas prices were going through the roof a few years ago so was the value of these little cars and I'm sure the gas will get up there again. I just don't need these now since I moved out to truck country.
Shipping will be the buyers responsibility but there is no rush if you need time to arrange something.
Since this car has sat, not registered or insured I would recommend hauling/towing it to where you need it to be.
Be sure to watch the video of the car running and check out my other Geo Xfi auction.
