1956 GMC Other Frame Off Restored Original Inline 6 Show Quality Description
1956 GMC 100 Stepside Pickup. Fully frame off restored less than five years ago. 270 c.i. inline six cylinder engine. Manual 4spd. on the floor transmission. 1956 incorporated a year of work that made significant changes to the GMC truck brand, owned by General Motors. Looking for an increase in market share, GMC added more strength to the engine, redesigned the axles and transmission, and added a 12-volt electrical system for better lighting to attract customers. This particular example was a ...lightly used truck from new. The previous owner acquired the truck and spent several year meticulously restoring it (Frame-off) back to it's factory original specs. The truck was the perfect candidate for restoration and nearly all parts are either restored originals or NOS components supplied by top GMC professionals. The multi-year painstakingly correct restoration was completed with expenses far exceeding the purchase price listed. Receipts and photos documenting the entire restoration accompany the vehicle. From the show quality chrome, to the exemplary fit and finish of the laser straight body, the outstanding interior to the exquisitely refinished bed, this GMC 100 must be considered one of the finer examples in the country. Every nut and bolt was attended to with no expense spared. The 270 inline 6 cyl. is a strong performer and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. The heavy duty drum brakes easily handle this GMC 100. This truck fits perfectly on a show field at the concours, on the open road, or tucked away in a collection of similar show quality vehicles. The interesting color combination of Aspen Green and Delta Green is said to be the original for the truck and is simply stunning. With only around 5000 miles since completed this truck shows like new.
