1987 GMC V2500 4x4 Diesel pickup.Original, great running blue and white two-tone square body 3/4 ton pickup. All mechanical 6.2 Diesel with crisp automatic transmission and smooth two-speed transfer case with front locking hubs, converted Air Conditioning.Power windows, locks, brakes, steering, cruise control, tilt-wheel, dual fuel tanks, and cargo light.Original cassette stereo and thus an uncut dash. 8600GVW, with heavy JB7 locking rear axle and I recall it has a 4.10 ratio.I purchased the truck from the original owner who kept it with a camper. As you see in the photos, the paint is shiny and body is smooth and straight. I got it this way. The original owner said the truck was repainted under GM recall. He said the truck was garaged and not used much due to hard starting. A knowledgableshop fixed that. Now, it starts easy and runs great. Once I got it, I had to fix and replace all those little things that arise from just sitting.First, the diesel Injection pump, diesel injectors, and glow plug controller. All new front ball joints and alignment.Fresh new fluids in radiator, engine, transmission, transfer case, and axles.New u-joints and balanced drive shafts. Then, new brake cylinders, front brake calipers, brake master cylinder, and hydroboost unit.New 17” tires and wheels.New block heater.New water pump, and the original brass radiator was rebuilt at a much higher cost than those cheap plastic replacements available now.Rebuilt Transfer case. New right fuel tank and sender.New dual batteries.New window motor, window switches and weather stripping and new windshield.A huge amount of refurbishment was done. The last bit of work was more than two years ago.The truck has been flawless ever since.Reliable, starts at 16F, (I plug in below that), it is powerful and fast with good fuel mileage.Lots of diesel torque. No slow truck here. It easily passes modern freeway traffic. Compared to my friends older diesel, this one is much quieter. In doing all this refurbishment work, I have learned how rare this truck is.For example, the unique blue paint color is original and only used on late 87 square body models and later body styles.
I am selling because I need to trim down my vehicles as I prepare for retirement. Planned to keep it. Hence all the careful work. Plus, it is simply fun to drive. I get lots of compliments on it. While the truck is in great shape and I have spent countless hours and nearly $16K on it, it is not perfect. It has normal wear and tear of use. So, look close at the photos. The original stereo works, but sometimes it has a wonky display and sometimes switches stations on its own.Ask any questions and I will answer to group. I want you to have confidence in what you see and read.
