1972 GMC C10 -- Description

Combining its time-honored and increasingly rare stepside configuration with just the right amount of customization, this 1972 GMC C10 offers all the old school cool you're looking for in a classic pickup, but it also features the dependability you'd want in a frequent driver. Thoroughly refreshed and harboring a strong powerplant beneath its hood, it's an ultra-sharp ride that would be equally at home turning heads at car shows or on the boulevard. This C10 now wears... a coat of vibrant red paint draped over its exterior, which has been modified just enough to up its curb appeal while still keeping its vintage appearance very much intact. The paint shows well - it was applied a while back and still has a consistently smooth finish and thorough shine. As a '72, this venerable truck was a member of the class that closed out the second generation of C10s, which represented General Motors's first concerted effort at adapting what had formerly been fairly Spartan workhorses for a wider audience and its overall look is far more akin to the more modern trucks that would follow even decades later than the C10s of just a generation before. Its badge free appearance and color matched front and rear bumpers really allow the paint to take center stage, while up front the grill has been re-sprayed in white and contrasts nicely with its surroundings. A combination of dropped spindles and custom springs provides the truck with an awesome stance - nice and low, while still allowing for the ground clearance needed in everyday driving conditions. The interior retains a thoroughly factory configuration and has received the attention needed to bring it to top form. The bench seat at its center features a well-fitted vinyl cover that shows no perceptible wear and is bracketed by door panels to each side that are accented with aged wood arm rests and are in matching condition. Below, the floor is lined with black carpet whose fresh appearance suggests that it was recently installed. The aftermarket GMC steering wheel looks great perched on its tilting column and the dash area beyond it is in good order, with an assortment of Sun Pro gauges taking their place in the instrument panel alongside stock counterparts and a fresh dash pad running across the top. A Sony AM/FM/Cassette stereo at the center provides a period appropriate listening experience while on the road. The bed area in back is sharp as well, and a nice stained finish or perhaps a protective coating will bring out the best in the wooden planks lining the floor. Upgraded, eager power sits under the hood in the form of a 350 cubic inch V8. It's armed with double hump heads, sizable 2.02 valves and a performance cam to take its output to another level and has been bored .030 over to add to its displacement. The engine is running strong, starting up with no hesitation and pulling with gusto as it teams with a 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission that shifts nice and smooth while the added headers leading to an aftermarket dual exhaust provide a deep, rumbling note. Both power steering and power brakes with discs up front are on board, so the navigating is easy and the stops are low-effort and dependable as this vintage pickup rolls on its set of 15" Rally-style wheels with badged centers that are outfitted with Cooper Cobra radial tires. If you're looking for a classic pickup with tons of curb appeal and plenty of potent road readiness to go along with it, you need to check out this 1972 GMC C10. Call today!
