1950 GMC Pickup 1/2 Ton 7' Bed Patina Perfect Survivor 5 Window & Accessories
1950 GMC Other Description
This 1950 GMC was a high end truck and usually associated with the job foreman. It is the 5 window Deluxe cab, GMC heater/defroster, chrome grill and bumper, with 2 optional 6 lug split rims remain on the truck. Other options and upgrades include factory overload rear springs, and parts of a special spare tire rack, with aftermarket special rear bumper and front grill guard. In its day it was a very nice driving and riding truck because of the 7' bed (6 inches longer than short) with 3 speed on the column shift.
Prior to 1980, somebody had installed a 1954 Chevy 261 truck engine into the truck with cast exhaust headers and dual exhaust, while leaving everything else stock.
Then, one of those California brush fires (as seen on TV) did a quick sear to the front of the truck, and moved on, letting the truck survive. The fire burned the front fenders, hood, and rolled over the roof. Glass popped, body seam lead, and front emblem melted, but then it moved on. Under the hood the wire harness over the radiator is burned, but the firewall, under dash, gauges, seats, tires and wheels were spared.
As you can see the paint loss and surface rust, however it does NOT have the usual rust or rot out in the cowl, floors, or cab corners. Assorted dents on most fenders, cab corners,
front valance, and tailgate. Hood and doors close well, with perfect running boards and dash. All glass is bad (frames are in doors) except one corner window.
Dash, heater, gauges, steering wheel, seat with track, and window regulators are all present. All brakes, springs, arm shocks, cross members, are all present for restoration. The 261 Chevy truck engine decodes as H-11-4, suffix code 040F54H, with Captain bars. Head #3701887, with no name (Fenton style) headers, one BBL Rochester carburetor. A compression check was taken and it varies between 30 psi to 100 psi, and the engine is NOT in running condition. This truck has spent its life in Southern California and has NOT been subjected to wash board gravel roads resulting in body cracks, fatigue, and stone damage. Extra parts included are a pair of very nice doors with glass and hinges, right and left original mount mirrors, and another front bumper. Email with any questions you have, and keep in mind this is a project truck and sold 'As Is'.
