1972 GMC C2500 Custom Description

1972 is the last year of the square body Chevy and GMC pickups. This is the rare "Longhorn" 2500 Custom model with the extra long bed, (104" inside length). The 2500 is the 1 ton frame with larger wheels and tires. Many say that this is the smoothest chassis of them all and it offers a great ride.
I'll call the color teal and white, but it is more on the green side. These are the original colors of the truck but it was repainted several years ago. It is a beautiful and shiny urethane paint job, but it is only perfect from 10' away and has minor imperfections. You will be proud to show it in virtually any car show, but it is a "driver". And it drives AMAZINGLY!!!

It has a replacement 350 V8 GM crate motor with 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor and four-on-the-floor manual transmission. (First gear is a granny low gear.) It will cruise comfortably all day at 80mph and tops out at 100mph. The exhaust note is magical and you've got to listen to those twin exhausts...the motor music will put a big smile on your face! The windows and windshield are very slightly green-tinted with SunTek Ceramic film to look original, but reduces heat buildup. The "Old Air Products" AC and heater blows hard and cold and is a pleasure in the Texas summer sun with the windows up.
The brand new replacement bed deck is from Smokey Road Rod Shop and has laminated, extruded aluminum "boards" with hidden bolts and polished stainless steel strips and hardware. Unlike real wood, this bed is impervious to heat, sun and rain. But it was expensive!
Brand new Toyo tires with correct, and VERY hard to find "dog dish" hubcaps, in addition to a fresh alignment, ensure a safe and wonderful ride.
The custom, newly reupholstered seat, original seat belts, Sony AM/FM/CD radio, power steering, power brakes with front discs, after market tachometer, voltmeter, oil pressure and engine temperature gauges add to a memorable driving experience.
I have taken some fairly long trips with this truck and wouldn't hesitate to drive it coast-to-coast.
