1975 GMC Sierra Classic GENTLEMAN JIM
1975 GMC Sierra 1500 Description
Up for bid: 1975 GMC C15 Sierra Classic “GENTLEMAN JIM”. This is an extremely rare limited production special edition pickup truck - only 1000 were made by GMC the first half of the year in 1975. Marketed as “America’s First Luxury Truck”, GENTLEMAN JIM has a number of unique features and luxury options not available on any other truck ever made in American History. This pickup is a true GENTLEMAN JIM and not a replica or clone. The ORIGINAL untouched features on the interior of the truck include: woodgrain trim throughout the interior, 'gun stock design' trim around the wood grain, steering wheel, dash insert, western metal door panels, and full set of gauges (including tach), and bucket seats with center storage console. The original 15” wheels with BF Goodrich tires are on the truck. Where needed, the interior of the truck has been newly restored to include new headliner, sun visors, new western style suede/vinyl seat upholstery with custom stitching, cabin trim, and new carpet. A Custom Autosound Bluetooth “original style” radio was installed (dash was not cut) along with Rockford Fosgate kick panel speakers that sound amazing. The Black and Gold two-tone exterior sets GENTLEMAN JIM apart from the rest, much different than the usual color combinations seen on the rest of the line of GMC or Chevrolet C10 pickups. Other notable options were the outer bed rails, gold grille, and my favorite - the stylized GENTLEMAN JIM script on the rear quarter-panels. The body and frame of this particular truck are very solid with a repaint of the gold center section of the body being done a number of years ago.I have done so much work mechanically restoring this truck, I’ll do my best to list it all: a freshly rebuilt and painted 350 V8,rebuilt Turbo 350 3-speed Automatic Transmission, New custom driveshaft, new Holley Sniper Electronic Fuel Injection along with New Fuel Tank and Fuel Pump and in-cabin computer display (for tuning and operation), new entire 2.5” exhaust system including H-pipe and Gold colored short tube headers and dual Black Widow Venom 250 polished stainless steel mufflers with chrome tip “turn down” tips that all give GENTLEMAN JIM a healthy, but not obnoxious growl. Extra sound deadening materials were installed in the truck to prevent excessive outside cabin noise, New windshield and original full glass rear window, Doors and door locks work great and open and shut “crisply” and both windows smoothly roll up and down. Other notable work on this truck is a complete renovation of the brake system to include new Master cylinder and brake lines. New spark plugs and plug wires. New LED headlights with daytime running lights that can be adjusted to any color and can be synced to music for a car show or set in “police mode” to flash red/white/blue, new LED rear brake lights and lenses, new sidemarker lights as well as new HELLA brand fog lights (original fog lights included). Air Conditioning was restored and it blows ICE COLD and the heater works great, New windshield washer system, Engine and engine bay repainted, New alternator, New MSD ignition, New starter, New air cleaner, new battery, New intake manifold (necessary for the Antique Gold Colored Holley SNIPER EFI unit install. This pickup truck is no trailer queen and it shows signs of rustic authentic patina in the paint, body, GMC badges, the 8 foot bed, and in the interior. Anything that made GENTLEMAN JIM unique, I didn’t touch it. The mileage on the odometer currently reads 773, but the actual mileage is unknown and when I got the truck it showed 99,980 on the odometer and all the work was done then; therefore, the truck has about 800 miles on it since all of these upgrades, repairs and renovation. You get the best of both worlds, old school class and new school technology. I had intended to keep this truck until I’m dead, but unfortunately a divorce forces me to begrudgingly sell this beautiful and lovingly restored pick-up truck.
