For sale is a very nice and original 1982 GMC Suburban 2500 4x4 with the Sierra Classic Trim Package. This is a 2 owner vehicle with 135,130 original miles. The second owner acquired this Suburban in 1992 and used it to pull a single horse trailer to livestock auctions throughout the 1990s until he purchased a newer Dodge diesel pickup. This Suburban has remained a ranch vehicle for the last 20 years and has only seen minimal local driving.
This Suburban is fully loaded with every available option for the year including power windows, power door locks, front and rear A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel, intermittent wipers, quartz electric clock, folding rear seat, power tailgate window, exterior decor package with chromed bumpers, front bumper guards and rear spoiler. All of the power options are working aside from the cruise control and A/C. The previous owner removed the oversized clutch fan and A/C belt in an effort to gain fuel economy. A smaller non-A/C style fan is currently fitted. The entire A/C system is intact aside from the belt. The clutch and pulley both spin freely on the compressor and the original fan is included in the sale.
The interior of this Suburban is very nice. The previous owner claimed to have replaced the front seat cover and carpets in the passenger area with OEM GM equipment from the dealership in the early 1990s. The dash pad does have some typical cracking beneath the carpeted pad. All of the gauges are working including the original clock and factory AM/FM cassette radio. The power windows all work, however they are a bit slow at times. The headliner is very nice without any cigarette burns or rips. The original build sticker remains in the glovebox outlining many of the factory options.
The exterior of this Suburban is 100% original and looks incredible for its age. The truck is finished in two tone Light Bronze Metallic with a Medium Almond insert. This is all original single stage paint and is beginning to show its age on the body lines with some wear and patina typical of the age and mileage. There are also a few minor scratches and chips here and there. Please review the detailed photos below the description.
The body is very straight with only a few minor dings throughout. The panel alignment is very good. The body is entirely rust free aside from some very minor rust starting behind the rear tires and two small blisters on the passenger side rocker as shown. The diamond plate running boards were likely installed when the Suburban was brand new and have done a great job protecting the rockers and door bottoms. The undercarriage is very dry with only minor surface rust on the frame and suspension components.
This Suburban runs and drives as well as it looks. The 6.2 Diesel V8 runs smoothly and has respectable power. The glow plugs are working including the indicator light on the dash. The previous owner had rebuilt the front end and transmission within the past 5,000 miles. The steering and suspension are very tight and the ride quality is very impressive for the age of this old SUV. The 4x4 works and the original hubs are still fitted.
