1966 Honda S600 Roadster- Low Mile- Long, Long Time Sitter-Great Project
1966 Honda Other Description
This is a 1966 Honda S600 Roadster LHD. Though with a vin # of AS2851005949, it is actually 1965 production year. But probably sold in 1966 and titled in Oregon from the get go as a 1966. I once had a car built in 1956 that was titled as a 1959. The year it was sold. Must of been a slow seller in those early days. This S600 was bought new at a Newberg, Oregon Honda Dealership of the day. With paperwork and manuals. One owner from new, according to the grandson of the owner I dealt with.. Low miles at 50,973. Taken off the road, driven into a barn and stored in the mid 80s. On the Oregon Coast. Which said barn roof started to leak sometime over the decades over this little gem. And there was crap and corruption up aginst the drivers side under the leaking roof. . Which I never saw until spending hours digging it out. The passenger side, front, rear all looked good. And the old fellows grandson said the whole car was rustfree. But that was in 1986. After buying it, getting it kind of dug out, we pulled it out of the barn. To find out the front left lower fender and part of that rocker were rusty from wet crap near it for the years. So it has rust. Not terminal, but pretty ba, especially by our Arizona standards. Nice solid floors. The spare box was there but after hauling it down here from Northern Oregon and then power washing it, the front part dropped away. So that needs replacing. Been repainted once, poorl, the original red sometime in the past. When I pressure washed the years of dirt, dust and everything else off, a lot of that repaint came flying off the front end.. So the body is not a beauty.. It needs work. But the interior is a beauty. Original, nice, clean. Not hacked up, customized, etc.. Bone stock original. Not even a radio, not to mention the original Honda rubber floor mats..Even have the original dealer factory handbook manual that came with the car new. And the Honda Periodical Inspection workshop manual.. And 10 old original quarterly newsletters by Don B Laughton. From Volume 1, Number 1. Have the first 8 from summer 74 to spring 75 . then 2 later 76 and 77 issues Also an Oregon Registration from the late 80s showing exact miles on it as the car had, and still has. We got the hubs and brakes loose so it rolls. Worked on the drivetrain, Freed up the linkage, but that is about it. The engine does not turn. We put Marvel Mystery oil down each hole and am letting it sit .But it still stuck and I do not want to force it and break rings, etc in case it can be brought back to life. So an engine overhaul is probably in the works. The engine has been replaced sometime in its life. Data plate shows engine stamp number AS285E1006534. The engine number is AS285E1011406. So a later engine..As is the body work needed. The interior really does not need much more than detailing . This is a total project. This is a builder. Not a driver. Or even close. But a car this neat, this rare, this origina, with such low original miles, and all should be saved. I have had a few of these over the years and they are just great little cars. Way ahead of their time.. I have a straight clean Arizona title in my name. I travel around the West Coast with my truck and trailer and might be able to get it to you or close for reasonable money. . And can arrange trucking to Long Beach California shippers for overseas buyers for $300. Clean straight title.$1000 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment due with 7 days
