Beautiful Red Hatchback just 93K Miles, Upgrades, Cold A/C, Clean Title, Smogged
1991 Honda Civic Si Description
Beautiful Red 1991 Honda Civic Si hatchback with just over 93,000 original miles and the Carfax to back it up. Air runs frosty cold, shifts gears smoothly once you get in the swing. These cars are built super solid and go past 200,000 miles, even 300,000 miles routinely.
I have poured nothing but love into this car since taking it over from a flight attendant who used it sparingly, totaling only 73K miles in first 22 years. Unlike most Civic upgrades this does not have to do with turning it into a race car, but rather a comfy, fun, eye-turning ride. A lot of people have a special place in their heart for the 91 Civic and I am one of them!
Taking over this very clean 1991 Civic 3 years ago the only body issue was the paint was very faded from being left at LAX airport while the flight attendant was on trips.
The first thing I did was hook it with a high quality paint job which cost $1200 on a deal in 2013. As the paint is 3 years old there are now a few paint chips but it still shines and looks great.
Next I put a Pioneer Premium Sound DEH 4100 CD/MP3/Aux Stereo in it with 2 Alpine Speakers in the front.
Then I took it to Sophie's Seat Design on Melrose in Hollywood, a 5 Star Yelp business, and had it fitted with custom faux leather seat covers which look and feel like leather but don't crack and are super easy to clean. The upholstery underneath is perfect and has stayed that way since I bought it since these covers fit perfectly over the seats.
Finally I took it to another 5 Star Yelp business, Campbell Window Film, to get the windows tinted to legal levels, not so much for show but to protect passengers/driver from sun damage etc
I love this car and spent $2500 on the upgrades to do justice to this modern classic with such low miles. I intended to keep it a decade or more as my personal vehicle.
Then my wife and I had a baby - one day I realized we both had exactly the same type of car - little hatchback (she has a newer Versa) and I bought a Honda Odyssey Minivan. Don't laugh! It just makes more sense for us, not just cause of the baby but as event organizers we load a lot of things in our cars and often end up renting vans.
I have all the receipts from my upgrades, plus repair records (majors were distributor and alternator, plus regular oil changes, brakes), original 1991 owner's manual, and Carfax report. It also has a brand-new catalytic converter - last week - so you can rest easy on smog for a while. Clean title, registered through Sept 2016, just smogged yesterday.
Speaking to the Carfax report, and the AutoCheck that will be included here, I am not sure what happened when the vehicle was reported stolen from the previous owner. I know that when I bought it the title was correctly in the name of the person selling it, as it is correctly in my name now. I can only guess it was stolen and then recovered. As far as the accident reported, it was my next-door neighbor who backed into it while parked, coming out of her driveway. My parked Civic was damaged on the left rear side, and has been repaired. The paint is not perfect in that spot, you will be able to see all of the car's small blemishes in the provided pictures.
Probably the most important info you can get from the Carfax/AutoCheck reports is the consistent mileage reporting, as I know there can be concern with possible mileage tampering - I assure you that was the first thing I checked into before buying it 3 years ago.
Please note the quality of this vehicle in the photos - body is excellent, just a little wear on the paint job here and there, the paint chips from the left rear impact mentioned above, a barely noticeable dent on passenger rear side (was fixed by paintless dent removal).Interior is super clean, couple of marks on ceiling. Glove box plastic latch cover is broken but latch still opens/closes. Any questions, just send a message.
Please remember this is a 1991 vehicle - no power steering, no power windows or locks, 5 speed manual transmission. Exactly 25 years old this year, a modern classic :)
It's really a beautiful ride, and I hope it will be fully appreciated by its next owner. I'm trying a Ebay Motors auction for the first time, but you can see I have 100% positive feedback on 54 other sales since 2001. Tired of Craigslist lowballers, people looking for a 'starter' car. It's not a great starter car, it's a great car for a 1991 Honda Civic enthusiast!
