1963 International Harvester Loadstar Description

1963 Loadstar Dump All-Wheel-Drive converted from brush fire truck a long time ago. Previous owner swapped in an IH 5-speed in place of the factory 4-speed. Fairly new Holley 2bbl. Something was not working with the dump hydraulics when I got it, but I never tried fixing it. Looks like everything is there for it to work. Previous owner took the parking brake apart to replace a seal but never put it back together. The parking brake parts are in the boxes on the passenger seat as well as other misc parts. Original IH 304 runs so good you'd swear its TBI 350 (see video below). Drives like a big gasoline powered truck, very fun and nostalgic. The coil is currentlyjumped to the battery, so you have to pull the positive cable to shut it off. I have a new ignition switch to fix this, but I've never installed it. I bought this truck just for the novelty of having an old 4x4 dump truck. It was fun to drive but now its time for another novelty vehicle. The pictures and video are taken without having cleaned the truck at all. They do not really do it justice. I will likely take some better pictures if it doesn't sell.

The highlight of my ownership of this truck was when my neighbor called and asked if I could pull his Ford truck out of the snow on his farm. I showed up in my Jeep Rubicon with 35" tires to check it out. When he called he neglected to include the part where his truck was stuck in the bushes at the bottom of a ravine. There was no way the Jeep was getting that thing up the hill. Thats when I remembered I had an all wheel drive IH Loadstar dump truck. I went home, connected the battery and fired her up (cold starts are completely uneventful in this truck). I drove back to his farm and we hooked the IH up to the ford. There was about 100' of chain, so the Loadster was at the top of the hill on level ground. I shifted her into 4-low and granny gear and just let her idle. It pulled that Ford up the hill like it wasn't even there. This was the one and only time I needed to 4x4 on this truck and it worked amazing. The only other times I used this truck were for driving to the hardware store, TSC, or most recently when we moved to a new house an hour up the road.
