I have been driving it around for the last week and here's what I have noticed. It runs and drives good for a 46 year old vehicle. It has plenty of power. The tires feel good. It runs greatat idle, but can sputter sometimes in drive in the mornings until it's warmed up. I am not afraid to drive it around, but I always recommend towing these old school vehicles home and checking everything out before you drive them for several hours. I don't know when the last thorough checkup was performed on this Scout. It's running and driving, but I wouldn't feel comfortable telling you that you could drive it 500 miles to get it home. Anything could happen with a radiator hose, alternator belt, etc. The frame is in great shape. The floors are in good shape. The original owner cut the hard top in half and turned it into a pickup top. It is removable if youremove the screws. You can leave it on, return it to original condition, get a roll bar and bikini top, or ride it as a convertible. The truck overall needs some TLC but could really be awesome if yougive ityour personal touches and restore it. You can drive it as you restore it or just enjoy it as itis. That's up to you. It's fun to drive and itdraws a lot smiles and waves as you are riding around. Thefuel pump and gas tank have been replaced. I have the dash but it needs a new plastic cover. I have a repair manual, extra arm rests, a piece of molding, and the rearview mirror. Please see photos. The upper rocker panels (underneath the doors), the back of thebed, and the back taillight capsall need rust repair. Please see the photos as I have made every attempt to show everything.
