1970 International Harvester Travelette
1970 International Harvester Other Description
I have had this for years & do not have the time to drive it any more. I have done many things to it over the years. This is a 1970 that had a white painted grill that I removed & installed the 72-73 chrome one, this was a 2 wheel drive truck & I installed a 90's one ton front axle from a chevy K-30 that I put $1000 worth of parts into. I have been driving it like that & never finished the 4x4 conversion [never needed it] I replaced the 345 engine with a fresh 392 that came out of a goverment truck with 16K on it but I had the heads sent out & the valves cleaned up & replaced all the engine gaskets because of age including rear main seal. I had removed the two fuel tanks & converted it to PROPANE so I never had to deal with a fuel pump leaking tanks flooded over carbs & something that would start up every spring after sitting in the garage all winter. This truck was originally a automatic & I converted it to a standard after the automatic wore out, I installed a factory 5 spd overdrive that now cruises @ 70 with no problems. About 2000 miles ago the rear end was chattering around tight corners so I had the posi rear end rebuilt new clutches bearings etc. I also had the wheel seals & shoes replaced. When I first got this truck the front floors needed some attention so I bought new replacement floors & had a welder do all the work. This truck has been inside for 3 years & I just put a battery in it & pulled it out, it started like somebody just shut it off the day before. When I replaced the engine I had the radiator gone thru & when I did the trans I put in a new $400 clutch NOT A REMAN. The bed looks good from the outside but is rotted on the inside & needs to be replaced or repaired, I have anothe bed from Arizona that goes with it but only one tailgate goes you can pick the one you want. The bed from Arizona is solid inside but needs some attention where the cap had sat on it. Not that it matters now but the locking hubs are new also Drive it away THERE is NO TITLE I bought this out of Maine years ago with a old registration because they did not require a title on anything over 10 years old. I removed the filler panels on top of the fenders so that you can see how solid the windshield section is & also notice the door jambs. When I bought this it had a camper on it & was stored inside a big barn I think that saved it, this is also the reason for no rear bumper because it had one of those step bumpers that stuck out a few feet so you could climb into the camper. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ARE REAL & HAVE THE MONEY THANKS forgot to mention That I put in a new windshield & gasket last year had it done by a glass company. When I converted it to the 4x4 front axle I removed all the springs & brought them to the spring shop & had them built up to raise the truck up to make the rear level with the front so basically it had all new springs except for the mains which were fine, all new spring bushings & U-bolts & center pins.
