This is a matching numbers, rust free, never been hit beauty. I have been the second owner for 28 years. I have kept her in original condition, except to have the engine de smogged. The V12 is happier pumping out more Horsepower, more MPGs, with a cleaner look that also makes it easier to maintain. Engine and drive train work as new and sound great, as you can see in the videos. Also put in a Crane Fireball ignition amplifier when the Lucas Opus amplifier died. With these changes, I think the V12 is now closer to 300 HP than 283 originally claimed.
In Texas, there is a safety inspection before registration renewal. So all the lights, flashers, brakes, horns and wipers work as she passed her inspection. All gauges and their lights work as well of coarse.AC blower comes on but compressor needs to be charged up with refrigerant. I rarely drove her with the top up, or in weather that would need the top up, so didn't need/use air conditioner.
The paint is original and shows its 44 years with Alligator checking, scratches and chips but still shines and turns heads everywhere she goes. The Chrome is EX -VG+condition except the right side head light surround has dull spots (2 pcs). I have new correct chin scoop and chrome trim, new upper and lower chrome grill surrounds. The ones on their now look good but have a ding or two. These all go with the her. Also all the smog parts removed and "stainless steel rain gutters" go with her too. I removed the sun visors to make driving video, they are back on now.
I've averaged less than 250 miles per year on my Jag. So most work done should be measured in miles, not years, as to ware. Aside from the Crane ignition amp, everything was done to O.E. specs with O.E. parts.
Work done in last 5,000 miles (1990-2017) front to rear:
Radiator re cored and new header tank 2004; New ball joints upper and lower 2014; Rebuilt L.F. brake caliper, new L+R brake hoses and pads 2004; New Boge (OE) front shocks 2016; New water pump 2016; Carbs rebuilt 2005, cleaned and adjusted 2016; Cam cover gaskets 2015; New Crane ignition system 2013; New coil cap and rotor 2013; new plugs and wires 2015; New exhaust front to back 1990, new manifold to exhaust sys. gaskets 2006; 4 new Koni shocks for rear 1990 ( 5K miles on 'em); Otter switch(Turns cooling fans auto on/off) 2015; Interior: everything was replaced 1995, except for dash and A pillars. that includes the trunk. As car was always garage kept, it still looks great (see photos)Regular oil changes; changed all fluids over the yearsNo chips or cracks in glassTires have 85+% tread leftTear on convertible top by snap at drivers door (see photo)other wise top and rear window VG.Speedometer cable waves, sometimes a little sometimes more. I was told it needs to come out, get lubed and put back in. Had her more than 10 years when this started. I knew how fast she's going by Tach.Original paint has chips, alligator cracks but shines. Some call it original patina and want it/love it. Others want to paint it.
I have many more photos (ebays 24 not enough) of engine, interior, trunk with panels removed to show no rust, many shots under car to show she's solid. Just use "ask seller a question" and tell me what you want to see, and I'll post in response!
An E Type is an experience every automobile enthusiast should have once in their life. The British have a way of combining performance, luxury and style that is unique. The E Type is the ultimate expression of their craft. I've had mine for 28 years. Now its time for someone else to enjoy her as much as I have. Iknow I'll shed some tears when when she leaves.
