1969 Jaguar E-Type XKE Description

1969 jaguar xke OTS with only 63,322 miles. A true "barn find". I purchased froman estate containing a carefullyacquiredcar collection. This car was purchased in 1969 by a very well loved and decorated Special forces Green beret when he returned from Vietnam. He purchased the car in England and was the only owner until this year. The car is original, and has not been restored exceptthat a few panels were repainted many years ago. It is very solid, has always been stored and maintained until it went into the barn and under cover. The body has a couple of minorbody work areasunder one quarterpanel and a little on the nose. The trunk has no rust outs and floors appear to be very complete, never repaired andstrong. A really great restoration candidate. Tireshold air, oil is clean and engine turns. Panels are very straight and gaps appear to bewhat they should be. Chrome is straight and undamaged but may be a little faded, i cant tell without cleaning. Interior appears to be untouched as well. I believe it is all matching numbers, i have confirmed the engine, and the only replacement or non original parts appear to be the air cleaner( which may instorage in the barn)and wiper motor, tires. There arejag tools and some spares. The car has a luggage rack and hardtop that has hazing cracks in rear window. There are some upgrades to the car that were purchased by owner but never installed like performance manifold and carborators. The pictureson this listingdo not look great because of the dirt and lighting, but they are authentic. Documentation and additional history is available.

Excuse the long narrative, but most of it is relevant and hopefully will lead to purchase by the right person. I toyed with either restoring it myself or just cleaning it and getting the mechanics sorted. But i think the car and owners story is interesting enough for me to market it as is -where is, uncleaned, not moved from the second floor of a the dry barn, on dry wooden floors, with years oflight dust and dirt.Yes i completely understand the uncertainty of a sitting car but i have looked at so many cars in my life that have less going for them. A running, painted up carwith replacement partsor a car that had normal rust and more miles is not as good a starting point as this car. I also realize that the highest values for barn find cars are ones that have zero repaint, but at least this car has not beenrepainted in over 30 years. There is stillsome original paint. My reserve is well under $45,000so in this hotmarket this is a car worth investing in.I hope someone will appreciate the barn presentation and that i am not improving or moving the car. I wish wayne carini or the barn find authors would come see it.
