1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster Description

1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster

From the old skit by Eddie Lawrence courtesy the Dr. Dimento Radio show... a skit with Santa asking a little boy, "What do you want for Christmas Little Boy?" to which he replies I want an automobile," "What kind of automobile, tin sedan?" "I want a Jagwah." "you're too young to drive a Jagwah..." "I want a Jag!"

For consignment shades of Austin Powers in the form of this very recognizable British Automobile, the XKE Jaguar. With a $60K plus work over by famed Jaguar expert Terry Lippincott, this car runs perfectly, and looks awesome! An original 39,560 mile car!

Exterior
Jaguar motors nailed it when they penned this design which utilizes a long bulbous bonnet, curvaceous fenders which wrap chrome wire knockoff wheels, and a curved to a pinched boot, framed by a chrome wrap around bumper. Paint on this car is immaculate, no rust or dulling, and is a stunning red. Chrome and badging as well as trim is all gleaming and nary any faults. Convertible top is spotless, and presents in black canvas with a clear plastic window. A black tonneau cover wraps up the top nicely when it is in the down position.

Interior
Yards of black leather cover the bucket seats, door panels, and dash top, and it's all very nice. The dash is peppered with numerous Smiths gauges, and a full lineup of toggle switches. An original wood steering wheel fronts the dash, which includes the original radio with LMKUU presets in button form. Black carpet in very nice condition is covering the floor and small rear stowage area. Trunk is nearly perfect and includes some tools that were original to this car. To keep everything nice while in the garage, a California Cover is included.

Drivetrain
A flip forward of the bonnet reveals some of Mr. Lippincotts handiwork in the form of a 4.2 liter DOHC Inline 6-cylinder, complete with headers added, and the original Stromberg Carbs (still retained) replaced with a lineup of (3) 2-barrel Weber carburetors. The original 4-speed manual transmission is attached.

Undercarriage
All clean and shiny underneath reworked and very clean independent suspension all around and power disc brakes now on all 4 corners. No structural problems, and a very sturdy and clean frame.

Drive-Ability
As expected, because it has been maintained in the capable hands of Mr. Lippincott who is known for his fastidious work, this car starts and runs flawlessly. Has a nice throaty exhaust sound, and all the controls worked. Typical of Lippincott, the added power comes with added safety in the form of power disc brakes all around. Nice driver and fantastic handling.

A beautiful example indeed, all wrapped up in red paint and black leather which retain their original luster. A pristine engine bay, with added power, great suspension, and really safe brakes. A nice find if you are in the market for some shag-a-licious Jaguar iconic British design prior to the rubber bumper era. I want a Jagwah!
