1978 Jaguar XJ6L chrome Description

1978 Jaguar XJ6LRARE Barn Find (Desert Find)
A near perfect restoration automobile. This is a one owner car purchased in California and lived its entire life there. I found it under several feet of sand which preserved it. Driving along I noticed the top of a car protruding out of the sand near the side of the road. Stopping, I noticed it was a series two, Jaguar XJ. I could not believe my eyes. Digging it out, I discovered the license plate, called the DMV and found the owners. They had no idea of the location and sold it to me. The car is nearly perfect from any corrosion, rust, rot, rubber, etc. I dug it out, changed the fluids and started right up as though it was sitting in a time capsule. I brought back to Cleveland, Ohio for a restoration.
This is an extremely rare two tone. I called my friend in New York who is an expert in two tone Jaguars. He said that Jaguar was talking about a two tone and producing about 100 for the US market. He is unsure if Jaguar ever executed that plan. I ran the Carfax - nothing. The original owners confirmed they did NOT repaint. I could find no evidence on the vehicle of a repaint. Perplexed, I left the original color and paint as is. The top of the bonnet and top of car has some sun burn. The original clear coat has been worn off in places and the color is in tack.
The interior is in excellent shape except for the seats and headrests. The temperature must have reached into the 100's during it 25+ years in the sun and sand. The leather seats and headrests are dried and cracked. The back of the seats and door panels are in excellent condition. All the knobs, switches and all functions work. There is some wood delamination. The engine compartment looks new. The undercarriage looks new. Even the struts and other steel parts look new.
The engine and transmission runs smooth. All lights work. This is a find that only comes along once in a lifetime. If its true, this may be the only survivor of 100. The reason for selling is to reduce my collection to a reasonable size. Not happy and needs to be done. This is arear opportunity for someone. It needs to find a home that will appreciate the history, story and uniqueness' of this beautiful automobile.
