Jaguar E-type XKE Coupe
1968 Jaguar E-Type Description
1968 Jaguar E-type coupe This is a vey nice driver's car that can be driven anywhere. It features covered headlights, 3 SU carbs, exhaust headers and toggle switches in the interior. Its been in a dealer's collection for the last ten years and was only driven 3,000 miles. In this time period it received, new front brake rotors and hubs, a custom Nardiwood steering wheel, electronic ignition, dark tint over glass, new floor pans, new rear exhaust, andnew tubes andtires - Vredestein 185 HR15 on the front and Dunlop 205/70 R15 on the rear. The seats were covered with new leatherand the engine head was removed and rebuilt at a machine shop. Additionally, the hood/bonnet was removedand the fender mirrors were removed and the holes fill in and the inside and out side of the hood repainted. The odometer shows 73,300 miles butthe original mileage is uncertain. This car has a strong engine that does not smoke, a non-slipping good clutch, anda solid gearbox with no grinding. It has a great exhaust note, is a blast to drive and attracts an enormous amount of attention where ever it goes. It is very reliable and needs nothing, but to be driven. As a personal note, I've owned both convertible E-types and coupes and the coupe is by far the more superior vehicle. If one is looking for a classic E to drive, the coupe is the way to go. The coupe chassis or monocoqueis much more stiff, better handling and much more comfortable to drive without all the wind noise of the flopping top. Moreover, many enthusiast believe the lines on the coupe are much more aesthetically pleasing. With this comparison, the good new is the coupes are less expensive than the open two seats - which makes them a comparative bargain for one wishing to acquire a classicE-type. Along with the car go the original steering wheel, the front grill motif bar and the original large air cleaner box and a spare wire wheel and tire that are not shown.
