1969 Jaguar E-Type FHC Description
Now up for auction is a 1969 Opalescent Silver Blue Series II E Type Jaguar fixed head coupe with triple SU carbs and tan interior. The car is in excellent mechanical condition, is aesthetically captivating and runs the way a Jaguar is supposed to run. Strong acceleration, responsive handling with a steady roar of the 4.2 liter engine. The car draws fans wherever it goes. No rust, rattles or strange noises. All gauges and lights work, with original tool kit and jack.
Rebuilt engine has just under 53,000 miles. In 2010 the car was stripped down to base metal, inside and out, and restored with new interior (seats, carpeting, console, headliner and hatch area), new dash instruments and switches, a new steering wheel (allowing extra knee room), new brakepads and rotors, tightening of emergency brake, a new stereo (with blue-tooth connectivity), rebuilt master clutch cylinder, new master brake cylinder and new spark plugs. In 2011 the head gasket was rebuilt and all lights and electrical functions brought back to working condition. Since that time front shocks have been replaced, new upper and lower ball joints were installed. In 2015 the radiator was acid washed and the cooling system flushed, the alternator was replaced, and in early 2016 the wire wheels and spokes were tightened and re-balanced. Chrome trim is in tip-top shape.
Great combination of speed, power-performance and plain good looks! Series II E Types are nicer to drive and more reliable than earlier models owing to incremental technological improvements, including better engine cooling methods and more comfortable seats than in the earlier series.
