Jeep CJ7 Rock Crawler
1977 Jeep Other Description
This is a solidly built CJ7 rock crawler. Before I list specifics, I'll explain why I'm selling it. I bought the Jeep a couple months before I retired last year because I planned to spend the summer wheeling in Colorado. Upon retirement, however, we decided to move to our old farm in Kansas and build a new house. I haven't had any time to wheel and won't any time soon, thus I'm selling the Jeep.
Let's start with the motor. It is 258 cubic inches, bored .030 over, head shaved, and some polish work on the head. It has a mild cam with lots of low end torque. Other details around the motor include Weber carburetor, HEI distributor, FlowKooler high flow water pump, aluminum radiator (auxiliary electric fans for low speed cooling), Hedman headers, and stainless exhaust.
Here's the running gear. Rear axle is Ford 9", trussed and shaved, disc brakes. Rear axle shafts are Moser alloys. Front axle is Dana 44, disc brakes, with Yukon alloy inners and outers and new Warn hubs. Axles are geared 5.13:1. Rear has detroit locker, front has Yukon Grizzly locker. Rear is four link with Currie forged Johnny joints sprung on King coil overs. Front suspension is extended leaf springs. The longer wheelbase is superb especially on steep climbs. Tires are 37" Super Swampers with very little use on them. Wheels are deadlocks.
Trans is an NP435 four speed and transfer case is a twin stick Dana 300.
Has rear LED brake lights, under body LED lights, and hight intensity LED front light bar.The cage is VERY well built. Frame mounted in six locations--below dash, behind seats, and rear corners. Pictures show extent of protection. Right behind the seats, especially, is some serious protection. Corbeau seats mount to the cage.
Fuel cell, AGM battery, PSC steering pump, steering box armor, full armor under trans and transfer case, rear U joint armor, full size matching spare (not as much tread as whats on the ground).
Great articulation on this rig; picture is not quite fully stuffed. Paint is really good. Hardly any body damage. Windshield folds down (it is also cracked). Top shown is all I have.
Jeep is street legal (except for bead lockers). The previous owner drove it 100 miles on the highway on occasion he said. I would not recommend much highway driving, however. Title is clear (Kansas).
Previous owner, the builder, said he had $25k in this rig. It's a good rig, I just can't use it at this time. I'm selling this no reserve and would like a $500 deposit, non-refundable, within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
