1965 Jeep CJ Description
For your consideration is my 1965 Jeep Universal CJ5.
If youre looking for a wrangler style jeep keep looking. This jeep came from the Willys era when they were modeled after the military versions. Very spartan and basic. No power steering or brakes. Its top speed is 50mph. This engine redlines about 3000rpm and handles like a tractor. So understand you are looking at a 50 year old vehicle from a very different era.
With new starter and distributor Jeep has been starting up on the first try and idles smoothly. Smokes a little on startup but gets better upon warmup. I'm hoping the new head-gasket alleviates it. The pistons felt nice and tight, and cylinder walls felt very smooth to the touch. The valve train and pushrods were very tight and were in spec when I checked them with my feeler gauge.
Comes with Meyers steel half top and full doors. Doors are in exceptionally good condition. Top not so much, however its solid all the way through.

When first purchased, I replaced all wheel and axle bearings, kingpin bearings, and axle seals pressed and installed. Rims came from a 1968 Jeepster as stock steel rims were rotted. All of these have less than 1000 miles since installed.
- As with any jeep project, the bad/needs
Parking brake needs assembly-I keep in gear when parked.
Currently the brake pedal feels spongey may have air in line. Will diagnose soon.
The engine block has small crack between cylinder four and three pictured above. Its a common thing with these engines and has been repairable in other engines.
The clutch cable needs adjusting.
The wiring could use some arranging to make neater.
-US Flag on cowl is magnetic and thus not permanently affixed to vehicle.-Has optional 4-speed Transmission and Model 18 transfercase-Special Sales order number plate on fire wall- no information as to what it means.-Spare water pump-Including original Carter carburetor (needs rebuild)-Spare steel rim- no tread.
Thats all I have for now. If jeep doesnt sell, its not something I mind keeping and continue to build. Jeep gets lots of admiration on the streets, very fun to drive and show.
Thank you for looking and feel free to ask questions.
I reserve the right to end auction at anytime in addition to refuse bids and or sale on eBay as vehicle is also for sale locally.
All the negatives listed are things Im currently addressing as Im intending on driving it regularly again.
