1971 Jeep CJ5 Renegade 2
1971 Jeep Renegade Renegade Description
This auction is for a remarkably rust free 1971 Jeep CJ5 Renegade 2. This Jeep has no rust problems at all... none. The car has its original California blue license plates and lived most of its life in the California Central Valley. It has a very nice Acme hard top in excellent condition. The original color was purple and it has been repaint to a burgundy color at some time. The original purple paint had white Renegade stripes on the hood, I provided a photo of the stripe remnants. I understand purple was a rare color for 71, but this Jeep definitely was originally purple it all purple up under the cowl/dash under the factory decals where they are scratched and the corner of the vin tag. The renegade stripes were white and the grille section is white and looks original even has the 71 certification sticker on it the bolts are painted white and don’t look to be ever touched, so maybe the white grille and white stripes went together. The Jeep has a good running original Dauntless V6 starts right up and drive very nicely with the 3 speed manual trans. . The engine runs smooth idle fine with no smoke or noises. The original upholstery has some holes but is useable. It has new brakes, new fuel pump and I was told the differentials were rebuilt 3 years ago and it hasn’t been driven much since then. The only thing not stock is the steering column, someone installed a tilt column that look like a Chevy column. It has been retired and a nice job was done, but a couple thing need to be finished. The speedometer cluster unit is new and shows zero miles. I don’t know the original mileage, but the motor looks pretty clean and runs great. Like I say this Jeep is remarkable rust free even for a California car, and also straight. The car registration is current and I have the title. I can store it for a while after payment is received if someone needs time to pick it up.
