1980 Jeep CJ7 RENEGADE
1980 Jeep CJ RENEGADE Description
Listing my 1980 Jeep CJ-7 that I've owned since Nov. 1999. It was originally a 6 cly, 4 speed. The previous owner installed an AMC 360 V8 and TH400 transmission out of a 1977 Jeep Wagoneer. He had the transmission rebuilt but I don't have any documentation of that. In March of 2001 I had the motor professionally rebuilt. Right after getting the motor installed I had the body completely stripped and repainted with PPG base/clear in the original Dark Brown metallic paint. Then had replacement Renegade stripes put on. It's been great summer top off vehicle for us. Very reliable. Never runs hot. Never off road. Never driven in inclement weather. I didn't buy it for an off road vehicle. I think I got caught in one rain shower since I've owned it. We averaged driving it about 1500 miles a year. Pretty much didn't drive it in cold months at all. Motor has probably 30,000 miles on it since being rebuilt. Just had new BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 tires installed last fall. Not sure of the actual mileage on the Jeep the previous owner replaced the speedometer. So here's the list of goodies installed/added over the years. Edelbrock Performer Camshaft and timing set. Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold. Holley 600 cfm four barrel carburetor. Taylor SpiroPro plug wires. Edelbrock chrome valve covers. K&N chrome air cleaner. Pro Comp 2 1/2 inch lift kit with Pro comp ES3000 shocks. New spring shackles. Front and rear sway bars. Moser one piece axles. Detroit Tru Trac rear differential. Currie twin stick shifters for transfer case (installed by previous owner). Ramsey 8000 lbs. winch (installed by previous owner). 33x12.50-15 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 tires (new last fall). 15x10 inch American Racing wheels. Superwinch locking front hubs. 6 inch driving lights. Flowmaster 40 series delta Flow mufflers with dual exhaust. 1995 Wrangler family style roll bar. Off road style bumpers. Bestop soft top for use with the full steel doors. Bestop safari style bikini top. Mesh bikini top. Bestop tire cover. Overhead soundbar with 6.5 inch Pioneer speakers. Sony CD stereo with remote. Autometer Phantom white face gauges. Auto Gage tachometer. Factory automatic steering column with TILT. Full steel doors with roll up windows. Wrangler half doors. New turn signal lenses, headlight bezels, emblems, and stainless hood latches and door hinges. Tuffy security console. Full carpet (showing it's age). Steel Horse front bucket seats and fold and tumble rear seat ( fabric inserts aren't an exact match for the front and back seats. But close). Have a factory air conditioning unit with compressor and bracket also. If I were gonna scrutinize it it would be that the transfer case is fussy to get into low range. But I don't know the proper shifting procedure for the Currie twin stick either. Never cared, didn't buy it to off road. The paint has a small 1/2 crack in the side of the body tub from flexing when using the full steel doors. And the engine could stand to be repainted. Drive it anywhere, very reliable. Ask any questions. I'll answer them honestly and as accurately as possible. Sorry for the long paragraph. No matter how I revise the listing it defaults back to this.
