1961 Jeep WILLYS JEEP FORWARD CONTROL TRUCK Description

This very rare Jeep FC170 is mostly all original with just 27,142 miles and was off the road and stored for many years prior to our purchase in 2009. At that time, a very thorough service was performed to make the truck roadworthy and mechanically reliable. The complete fuel, brake, exhaust system and much more were totally gone thru and five new tires were installed. The motor is 226ci 6 cylinders as tuned, carb rebuilt and of course, all fluids changed. The truck runs excellent, quiet and smooth with no smoke or leaks of any kind. The transmission, transfer case and locking front hubs all function properly and the clutch is fine. We did everything required to make sure this Jeep has no known mechanical issues and can be driven safely and reliably just as you see it here. Cosmetically we did do dome restoration to the truck. The truck Cab is all original paint as far as we can tell including the commercial lettering that was put on when the truck was new. There are no rust issues whatsoever with the cab. The truck bed had some small areas in a few of the corners that did have rust and had some metal patches previously welded in, actually done very well. The bed sides were quite beaten up and we did paint them and the tailgate. We also refinished the wheels, bumpers, and rear fenders. The bed was then done in Linex modern bed coating for protection, durability, and appearance. The frame and chassis components have no rust issues whatsoever. These forward control trucks are often quite rusted and this truck is absolutely solid and sound. Interior is all original with some interior panels showing some wear but overall condition matches to the rest of the truck. Very few of these rare trucks survived and likely none in this unrestored original condition. This Jeep can be driven and enjoyed just as it is, the needed work has all been done. We have set a very realistic reserve to sell the vehicle. Please look over our photos or come to Erie, PA to see the truck.
