The Lamborghini Espada is destined to appreciate in value as part of the continuing Italian exotic automotive renaissance. Here’s a rare opportunity to own one of Lamborghini's most successful cars ever produced.
The Espada was developed to meet customers’ growing demands for a V-12 Lamborghini with four full seats, combined with V-12 power and typical Lamborghini panache. This was an automobile that made no compromises, as it combined a fantastic engine, which was taken from what many consider the world’s first supercar, the legendary Lamborghini Miura. This combination with the practicality of four seats and a spacious rear boot, the Espada proved to be huge success for Lamborghini at the time, even outselling the fabled Miura, and 1,217 cars were produced in three distinct series over its production run.
It is rare to find such a strong running and structurally solid example of these impressive grand tourers. As a late second series model, this example incorporates all the improvements made during the production cycle. The Espada represents an outstanding value when compared to Ferrari examples of similar vintage and in many ways, is a better appointed automobile. The Espada provides for an interesting conversation topic, and makes a statement of uniqueness.
Under the stewardship of the car’s last owner, a Virginia based collector, the car was completely stripped and partially disassembled and all rust areas replaced with new metal. It was then refinished in stunning Dupont Chromabase H8436 Rosa Red followed by Dupont 7500 Clear Coat, replacing the original metallic brown.
The following correct for the application primers were used: DuPont 615, 616, 1120, 1125, 1130
The Campagnolo Magnesium Alloy Wheels were refinished in Dupont Chromabase B8577 Gold Dust Metallic and Dupont 7500 Clear Coat.
Considering this automobile was painted approximately 27 years ago, the paint is in excellent condition.
This owner also replaced the original factory supplied VIP interior with Bridge of Weir 0122 Tan Leather for the seats and dash fascia, with black leather for the dash top. While the interior workmanship was of the highest quality, gathering a First Place in a Poconos car show in 1991, the cushion/padding has sagged a bit in the 27 years since it was installed.
Important note on the interior: As this car was originally fitted at the factory with the extremely rare VIP interior, reintroducing this interior may increase the value of this car far more than the cost of replacement.
The car runs and drives the way it is supposed to with a strong engine and smooth shifting 5 speed transmission.
