Lancia Scorpion / Monte Carlo
1977 Lancia Scorpion Description
OK:
Nice Scorpion here.
I'm a Lancia Mechanic by trade, & took this one in to save it.
It had been sitting for years, and I figured if I didn't fix it it may just get lost to entropy.
I spent a foolish amount of shop time bringing it back to life. A complete loss monetarily, but I felt it needed saving.
Hey, it's a cool thing, right ?
The previous owner stated the engine was just rebuilt & never run.
I took the cam covers off and it did look new inside.
Don't know the true mileage as the last owner put in a new instrument cluster and the mileage is indicated at 0000.
It has a lot of recent parts, I think he may have thrown some good money at it, though I did not get any receipts.
Speedo not working, perhaps a broken cable.
Got it running, fixed the clutch, fixed the brakes, repaired the electrical system, aligned it, made the windows work again ( That took forever ! ) Tuned it.
It has the original AC all there ( Not working, probably out of R12 ) ACaliforniacar, it has all the smog gear installed except the pump belt is missing and the pump is stuck.
It has a California title, but it wasn't non opped at the DMV so there are probably $700 in back fees in California. These are also hard to get through smog here, so I would not suggest a Californian buy it.
It as a Caiforniavanityplatethat has not been found. I only put the Oregon plate on for photos as it looked empty with no plate on the back.
Having said that, it is a rust free straight, never been hit California car.
It is also the late model with cool wheels & glass sail panels.
Just lost 4 parking spots, so I decided to sell a few cars. Need a Lancia Fulvia ? Look at my other listing....
It starts, runs, drives, headlights go up & down, I recall the clock even works. It's a functional car.
Good opportunity to pick up an affordable mid engine Italian in James Bond gold.
Under the sheepskins, 3 of the four seat panels are worn red leather, & the fourth is the same vinyl as the doors.Comes with one spare seat in vinyl.
Matching spare wheel.
Problems ?
Owner lost the air filter & put in dual oil filters in the area under the hood. He also lost the timong belt cover. Probably time to change the timing belt anyway. The interior smells like an old car. It could be the sheepskins.
Reliable ? I don't think Italian cars were reliable when new, so 40 years later I would not fly in & drive it across the country, I would suggest a trailer for pickup.
Thanksfor looking. You might look up my Italian car company EddinsMoto for a reference.
