1977 LANCIA SCORPION TURBO
1977 Lancia Scorpion Description
This car was originally turbo charged for a Car & Driver magazine article to show what it could have been. When these cars were brought into the US in 1976 and 1977 the Fiat 1.8 liter twin-cam engine was detuned for smog purposes from 115HP tp 79HP.By turbocharging the original engine Car & Driver brought it up to about 125HP. However, with 1980's turbo experience the cars suffered from turbo-lag on acceleration and they had to disconnect the AC for lack of space for the big piston style AC compressor. The last two pictures are of the original engine compartment and interior when I purchased the car in 2005.
I have installed a 2 liter twin-cam engine with modern inter-cooled turbo charging putting out 170HP at low boost. The car also has the original AC working with a rotary compressor. In addition the front brakes were upgraded to larger Fiat calipers and discs, Koni shocks installed all around, and larger wheels and tires to safely handle the added power.
The interior is mint original with upgraded CD Stereo and speakers. The exterior was repainted because of crazing of the clear coat, a common problem in the 70's. The body was completely disassembled and stripped and repainted in the original color. There was no rust to be found anywhere on the car, since it spent its original life in San Francisco and I have owned it since.
The car has it's original Owner's Manual, tool kit and jack set. I can assist in finding shipping for the buyer. Call with questions or for additional info: (414)350-3199.
