Land Rover 1975 Series III
1975 Land Rover Other Description
1975 Land Rover Series III 109 3 Door 2.25 Diesel- right hand drive. This is a former South African military Land Rover legally imported from South Africa by myself in 2011 after owning it in South Africa. Unlikely many military Land Rovers, his one was built in England (I have authenticity certificate). This vehicle comes with both pickup+tailgate and full canopy with rear door. It has a safari rack, as well as quite a few extra parts. I hate to sell it but my family and off the grid house needs a complete new solar setup more than I need the Landy.
This vehicle is in good working order and is legally titled and registered. It is smog exempt in California. The paint is in good shape, he interior is fair and it runs well. The engine is the stock 2.25 diesel motor. The rear tire mount is modified from a Defender and has a lockable clasp on back. It has a roll bar that fits regardless of which top is on. It comes with two military style jump seats for the back. The full canopy has two side windows from a Defender that are the sliding opening style so that folks in back can get some air. It has clasps for a military canvas top. Currently it has the full hardtop on and that is the way I will sell it. It will come with the pickup canopy and tailgate on the side as part of the selling price.
It also comes with many extra parts (see photo layout) too numerous for full list but includes:
1. an extra hood with spare tire cleats and imperial threaded rod that will accommodate any tire thickness
2. extra suspension parts and steering links
3. half gallon each of the blue and white 2-part epoxy (of the type not available in CA)
4. Warn hub locks
5. extra wheel and gearbox bearings, everal extra gearbox gears
6. front ball hub backing plates and new hub seals
7. assortment of lenses
8. assortment of door hinges
9. extra aluminum sheeting
10. extra dash trim and ventilation levers
11. extra exterior door skin aluminum
12. brand new clutch kit
13. original capetown license plate
14. shift lever
15. hard brake lines
16. brake shoe cores
17. side mirror
18. custom made extra long leaf spring shackles for lift
19. I might be talked out of an extra TDi Defender transfer case and gearbox that I brought over in case I ever wanted to do the tdi conversion as I had on a Land Rover IIA when I lived in South Africa (see photo in images of that chassis conversion-note that is not the chassis of the vehicle that is listed here). The parts on the lower left sheet of plywood are hard to find items necessary for the conversion including the speedometer drive gear (replaces electronic sensor), il cooler adapter, and brake cable, ew handbrake brake shoes, earbox mounting brackets, lutch slave cylinder, lutch fork and bearing.
20. I have a new set of windshield halves that I may or may not get around to installing but they will go with regardless.
21. other misc stuff and bags of greasy notes and bolts that I didn't want to unpack.
Unfortunately for many, live in a fairly remote location so serious inquiries please and we can schedule a meeting. A benefit of making the trek here is that there are numerous locations within a mile that allow the full 4WD capabilities of this Land Rover to be tested. I can send a video of the engine running and can send more photos as needed. Please respond with your phone number and I will call you back promptly. Vehicle is sold is as.
