1980 Land Rover Defender County Station Wagon Description

1989 Land Rover Defender 110 Turbo Diesel truck.

This is a great opportunity to get a Defender 110 Turbo Diesel (19J) that is already stateside, legal, and registered. These trucks get harder and harder to comeby at reasonable prices each year. This is a good example, is the perfect camping / adventuremobile...or you can drive it as-is reliably as a daily driver. Everyone has their own ideas of what they need in a rig and that's why we are letting this one go unrestored. In short, this great example is entirely up to you to personalize and build as you see fit. (We will gladly lend a hand of course)

100% legally imported and registered in the State of West Virginia. She is currently parked at our shop in the Martinsburg region, where we restore these vehicles and work on other Land Rover's. Given we charge folks $45 to work on these trucks, i simply have run out of time to work on my own projects and this happens to be one of those. Yes you are more than welcome to come and look. I will also gladly restore the vehicle for you for a normal price.

For a 28 year old vehicle it is in far above average shape. She suffers from very few of the standard Defender issues that come with a vehicle of this age.

—> She drives exceptionally well, manages to do 65-70 without road gradients, and goes around corners the way she should.

—> Brand new Clutch put in by myself, a month back, see images for proof.

—> You will be getting a few bits and bobs to go with her.

—>Frame requires a good scrubbing and then anti-rust coating and a good waxoyl. She needs a patch on the front right outrigger, but can be welded in situation.

—>As with any original or “so called freshly painted" land rover’s, rust areas such as the door bottoms and bulkhead are inevitable. This would be no exception to the rule. Doors still close well and the interior light comes on upon opening the driver door which ‘never’ works on these vehicles.

—>The bulkhead, is in good shape, will need a couple of $100 thrown at her in the next 5 years but nothing major.

—> Paint is horrid! Not shiny or dull, but just a hand rolled paint job. My estimate is that this was done in the mid 2000’s. Vehicle is extremely honest, which is the only way to buy one of these.

—> This truck 143k miles on her. This is verifiable with old paperwork that we received with the vehicle. This really is quite low mileage for one of these, as many you see have over 200k miles and or no documentation.

—> I would recommend too everyone with a 80’s Land Rover that you replace the bushes with a new bushing set for the suspension. Plus a good service with the correct fluids!

I have personally driven the vehicle for a duration of 4 months now and know how what and where, and will gladly answer any concerns you may have. In my opinion (grew up in the back of a 109 station wagon, rrc and defender restorationist, and owned every ladder chassis landy aside from a forward control) it is, a good truck mechanically, certainly on par if not better than the trucks we usually deal with and repair.

Fluids have been checked, but they are not serviced. I do recommend you fully service the truck upon taking delivery or have me do it. Easy truck to work on and i will gladly lend a hand via the phone/skype if you get stuck.

Please remember, this vehicle is now 28 years old and as such has the normal expected wear for it's age due to its originality. Please do not come or bid expecting a showroom 110. If that is what you are looking for you are going to pay 70K+. That being said, it is a great truck that is the perfect starting point for your own adventure lifestyle for years to come.

We do stock quite a bit of parts that can be purchased separately and a price for installation can be negotiated. For instance, we can build a 300TDI into the vehicle with the correct gearbox for 6.5K.

As with any auction, we reserve the right to cancel any and all bids, as the car is locally for sale as well.

Go explore and live well.
