Ex Show car -Rare Left hand drive Defender 110 Ex Military Tithonus LHD FFR
1991 Land Rover Defender Description
I bought "Susan", this Left hand drive Land Rover Defender 110 Tithonus directly from the military in 2015. I waited for the MOD to release a peach and patience paid off as I secured this rare structurally solid FFR (fitted for radio) example with great bulkhead and beautifully preserved unwelded chassis.I am a Land Rover enthusiast and I spent 18 months getting her mechanically match fit.I have fitted a new gearbox and clutch including Ashcrofts uprated cross drilled input gear. The head was fully reconditioned with new valves, springs, hot spots etc and new exhaust manifold and system and she has a new brake master cylinder. However she has not been resprayed. She really looks like this with original paint. Being fussy I welded in a fresh section of metal in the drivers footwell (where the heel board meets the very thin pitted horizontal. Rust proofed and painted. Its all hidden under the moulded matting system but I have lifted to show it in the photos. Other than that she is unwelded.
"Susan" joined "Sean" as I was lucky enough to own a near identical pair. Sean was sold and I kept the newer Susan using her as my show car in Florida. Unfortunately now Susan must go too. Most of the pictures show her with the top removed - she is permanently garaged except for beach and show days. I have her full Tithonus hard top, full size rear door, military wheels and tyres in storage which will all be sold with the car. (The large wheels pictured will not be part of the sale - I use these to save wearing out the originals which occasionally go back on if I am going to a military show.)
Being LHD 1991 this Tithonus FFR is extremely rare and is a treat to drive. The insurance company has valued her at $40k. I have set the reserve at significantly less than this. The vehicle is advertised elsewhere and whilst unlikely, I reserve the right to cancel the auction should the vehicle have a firm sale before the auction ends.
I have all the paperwork including her original purchase documents and the paper trail of the importing process. She is kept in Jupiter Florida. There are more photos and videos etc including a recent walk around video if you Google My Lefty Landies.
The vin number is SALLDHAC8HA470301. You will see "Susan 0301" (the last 4 of the VIN number) at several points on the car which was my way of telling Sean and Susan apart. She of course has the VIN number in all the correct places.
