1994 Land Rover Range Rover LWB Description

Rover fans, THIS IS THE ONE you have waiting for!

I'm thrilled to offer for sale this BEAUTIFUL, serviced, clean Carfax, 1994 Land Rover Range Rover County LWB! It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream and looks absolutely stunning in Aspen White over Tan Sorrell Leather!

LWB Background:

Let me begin with a little background. This gorgeous Rover was produced for the 1994 model year. Very few LWBs were produced. This Rover LWB was built from the factory fully loaded. Power windows, power locks, power seats, Connelly leather, generous rear space, dual zone climate control, loads of real wood adorning the interior, and on and on. One upping its smaller SWB brother as well was the LWB only 4.2L V8, in place of the smaller, less powerful SWB 3.9L V8. This 4.2L packs more punch than the 3.9L and does more than simply add some power. It adds an element of increased ease. Less throttle to pull away at lights, less effort to merge on a highway. This was Rover at its best: comfortable, luxurious and capable while ready for any adventure on or off-road! The Tan Sorrell leather interior is supple and warm in color, the Aspen White paint too is beautiful.

This LWB has been thoughtfully serviced and refinished. Loads of service and new parts throughout! This truck has received piles of love, restoration, service and attention and is ready to find a new home. And this is a Virginia truck that was garaged and babied its entire life, so it is rust free.

Prior History

The truck was purchased by the seller six months ago from the second owner, and the odometer now shows 168k miles. Prior servicingwas performed at Roverland 4×4 and Land Rover of Alexandria, and included a new wiring harness, replacement ofignition system components and worn auxiliaries and other things. The truck was well cared-for,with many service documents available. This long-wheelbase Range Rover Classic is sold with a clean Carfax and a clear Virginia title.
Prior Service History

Major service prior to my ownership wasperformed at Roverland 4 x4 and Land Rover of Alexandria, Virginia and the work included:

  • New spark plugs, ignition wires, and distributor cap and rotor
  • New alternator
  • New fuel injectors
  • New wiring harness
  • New steering swivel ballseal

The truck has been regularly maintained and has passed annual emissions inspections for 24 years without issue.

The engine is mated to a 4-speed ZF automatic transmission, which drives a full-time 4WD system through a Borg Warner viscous-coupling transfercase.

The Current Condition and Service:

During current ownership, this excellent LWB truck was taken from already good driver condition to the NEXT LEVEL over the last four months. How?

It received a complete exterior refurbishment, and partial mechanical rebuild, with over$15,000 of work done!
The following things were done in the last four months:
1) The Alpine white paint was subjected to a full wet-sand and color correction (at a cost of $2,500).
2) All dings were removed and 7″ Truck-Lite headlamps were installed ($700).
3) The grille, bumper caps, and lower front air dam have been refinished. New wipers were also installed ($300).
4) The stock air suspension has been replaced with Old Man EmuNitrocharger shocks and springs can be found at all four corners ($4,500).
5) The 4.2 Liter V8 was recently serviced, and a new power steering pump and new muffler were installed ($2,000)
6) The engine's intake plenum and valve covers were media-blasted and reinstalled with new valve gaskets ($2,200).
7) The rear tailgate window frame was replaced, new liftingstruts were installed, and a new handle was fitted with a keyed lock matching the front door cylinders ($1,200).
8) New 235/70 Michelin X Radial LT2 tires were installed ($800).

9) New brake lines were installed ($600)

10) Multiple window motors were repaired, as well as driver's seat power motor service ($1000)

11) The wood trim was replaced ($500)

Interior

The dash is straight and free of cracks, and all instruments and electronics function, including the clock.

Power seats work. Power windows work. Sunroof works.

Wood trim pieces were replaced!

The optional A/D/S sound system is installed, and the factory cassette-radio head unit remains in place.

The A/C system blows cool but not cold.

Black rubber Range Rover floor mats protect the carpeting.

What does NOT work: seat heaters, cruiser control.

-WOOD

BRAND NEW wood console and shift knob. Stunning center console wood and gorgeous original transfer case, shifter and door wood showing only minor flaws at best.

-CARPET

Beautiful carpet in the truck! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. There are couple small flaws, some little bits of dirt in tight corners of the sills etc, but overall shape and condition is great.

-DASHBOARD

Gorgeous shape dash with very little wear! Shiny surfaces with no cracks in the leatherette. The gauge cluster surround has some minor wear marks on the upper plastic hood and though very small can be noticed since you look at the gauges often.

-POWER SEATS

All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Range Rover Classic! This is a very expensive rebuild and a major annoyance on Rovers to deal with.

-POWER WINDOWS

2 new window motors were installed. All windows work smooth and quickly! Another rare find!

-POWER LOCKS

Fully functioning door locks!

-RADIO

The OEM radio works great and sounds good!

-AC/HEAT

AC is cool and heat is earth core hot!

-CARGO AREA

Rear carpet is fantastic with only minor signs of use.

Engine and Drivetrain

This engine had average miles for the year with 168,200 miles appear on the odometer.

It showed no signs of distress, head gasket issues, overheating, knocking or oil pressure issues.

There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep the engine in near brand new condition. The motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! And a happy Rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles.

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS.

As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received in the last 2 months: new valve cover gaskets, and new steering fuel pump. Take a nice look at the engine bay, clean throughout! Fresh Mobil One service and filter were done. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover! The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated.

-COOLING SYSTEM

Radiator flows fantastic. This Rover stays cool beyond cool! The temp needle NEVER moves past 9 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic.

-IGNITION SYSTEM and STARTING SYSTEM

The distributor cap and rotor were replaced by previous owner - records included.

-UNDERCARRIAGE

VA truck with clean underside! Great solid floors and frame. No rot, no rust, no trail scars. Some typical surface oxidation on bolt heads and such.

-BRAKES

NEW front and rear brake lines!

-SPRINGS and SHOCKS

Rover Classics left the factory with Electronic Air Suspension and while a nice feature, it can be expensive to upkeep and often those who venture out for camping or otherwise prefer the durability and reliability of coil springs. This Rover is one of the lucky ones which has been converted to OLD MAN EMU shocks and coil springs! No more EAS nail biting moments or worries.

-STEERING

BRAND NEW power steering pump!

-4WD SYSTEM

4WD Low and High both work great!

Exterior

-PAINT

The paint is gorgeous! It is a 9 out of 10. Shiny, beautiful Aspen White paint was wet-sanded and corrected by pro restoration shop for thousands of dollars! It was also recently polished, finished and waxed as well.

NO ACCIDENTS! CLEAN CARFAX. NO STORIES.

The deep WHITE paint is glossy and has a wonderful luster! No roof fade or chipping! No hood fade or chipping! The truck looks much better than most 50k mile cars let alone a rugged truck, let alone a 23 year old truck! The body dings were removed as well with just a few small scratches and chips remaining.

Remember this is a near 23 year old truck, so there may be some very minor scratches, wear not discussed in detail etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Rover or cars of this year. Even against more modern cars the paint will compete head to head - it really is beautiful.

-TIRES

BRAND NEW tires with 90% tread!

-BUMPERS, VALANCES and PLASTICS

The bumpers are in wonderful shape and free of the typical missing or broken bumperettes! They are not made from the factory anymore and impossible to find this clean! End caps are in wonderful shape and free of major sun fade typically seen.

The Experience

There is no Rover ownership like owning a very well sorted and thought out Rover. It is just a much different experience than any other. There is a tightness, a cleanliness, and sense of what this truck was like when brand new. The wear for a neglected car are gone. Let alone, remember every component only has that many few miles on it or has been rebuilt or serviced. Combined with LOADS AND LOADS of preventative and scheduled maintenance it really does not get any better for a Rover or any car for that matter. Driving this Classic is fantastic. It pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. An off road guy? One trip in a Rover in the dirt will have you hooked on the famed capabilities!

So what is it like to drive this beauty? You have to start at your approach to her. Glossy, clean and detailed, she sits just at the right height. The classic British lines mixed with a crisp, glossy white color are inviting enough, but open that door and that burst of Rover leather and wood comes at you, that it might as well be 1994 again. It is like climbing into a time machine! Turn the key and the V8 rumbles to life with its distinctive Rover burble. Its a wonderful and unique combo. Close the door and it is all but quiet inside aside from a few great sounding tunes. Press the gas and off you go for a comfy cruise. You sit high with excellent vision in all directions. Need to pass that slow car in the right lane? Give her a boot of throttle and she revs up and surges past! But you again are in a LWB Rover! So time to pick up some friends with long legs or high expectations for comfort! A 6 foot plus guest can stretch his legs out fully! Perhaps its time for a little trip with those friends camping. On the graded dirt roads, it is as if you haven't left the tarmac! And when the road turns to a dirt road or a steep climb, while others are gearing down to 4L or turning around, you just keep a nice even foot and work your way up the mountain. The legendary Rover is just a thing of beauty both on road and off.

The Wrap Up

I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Rover. There are other Rover Classics, but if you do find one for sale and it has more methodical service, I urge you to buy it! Remember, Rovers take some extra care and feeding, they are not a Honda -- so a Rover with 50k miles with questionable, unknown or poor service history is worth about as much as a Slurpee if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, beautiful, solid truck again. Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear.

As you can tell from my ad, I know the care that these trucks need. This is the 4th Rover LWB I've restored this year and the best in my opinion. If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" Ask questions!

This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! This truck is ready to go live another 150k+++ miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service!

Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible.

My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to describe accurately the shape of the truck, but keep in mind it is impossible to discuss every detail of a car for better or worse. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Rovers (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars.

Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use despite its service and restoration. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 168,000 mile truck that has received some nice refreshing cosmetically and mechanically. This is good miles for Rover of this year, but please just remember that no 168,000 mile car is perfect. It is though a clean, very nice Rover! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con of a car, I am not an inspection service, it is your responsibility as a buyer to do your due diligence and inspect the car. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech!

Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!
