1969 Land Rover Series IIA 88" Description
This is a rare find in the South - a Land Rover without Rust that hasn't been kept in a barn! It was shipped directly from England to Atlanta and until 4 years ago was owned by the original owners. This is a truck that wants to go on adventures, and sadly, I am not the proper owner. I bought it because it was my dream car, but frankly, it is too much vehicle for me. If you love old Land Rovers, you know they ride rough, shift rough, and go from 0-60 in about 10 minutes! No power steering either. But it will pretty much go anywhere you want to go, on road or off road. If you are looking for the perfect BOV this is it.
I also have some original paperwork, the original tool kit, first aid kit, and some maintenance receipts.
Information I received when I purchased this vehicle and my own observations:
Exterior: R
epainted about 5 years ago in the original color. Paint is glossy with only a few minor chips. Original galvanized trim (windshield frame, seat moldings, etc.) in very good condition. Original front bumper and couple of the trim areas painted a zinc-based satin silver. All glass and light lenses are in excellent condition, and lights work. When restoration was done about 5 years ago the hardtop was removed, sanded, primed, painted and re-installed. The frame, floors, door hinge areas, inner fenders and rockers are rust-free. Undercarriage was cleaned and painted with a rust prohibitive black paint. The original wheels, including the spare, were sand blasted, primed and painted. The tires are Nexen and look almost new. Side-view mirrors turn in/out, do not appear to be original.
Interior: Seat covers front and back are in excellent condition with the exception of 1 of the front cushions where the seam has come undone and also has a small tear (see photo #12). Steel dash in very good condition with a few minor blemishes. Floors are covered with a heavy rubber material to protect the metal floors. Not original, but functional. The headliner is in excellent condition (I do not know if it is original). There are no sun visors. The door panels appear to be original and are in good condition. Vents and seals below windshield are in working condition (this is your air conditioning!).
Mechanical: The original 2.25 L gasoline engine starts up easily, even after sitting for months at a time. 4 speed manual transmission, floor shifter in working order. I have never tried the 4 wheel drive since I bought it, so I can only assume it is in working order. Runs best on good old leaded gasoline - if you want to use unleaded some adaptations are recommended.
Engine Compartment: Nice and clean but not detailed. No rust. Underside of hood painted when exterior was painted.
Electrical: Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, horn, and turn signals work properly. Hazard lights do not appear to be working. Temperature gauges work. Speedometer and odometer work. Windshield wipers and heater work.
Rear area: Seat covers are in very good condition and look original. Rear door panel looks original and is in good condition. Floor and side walls retain original paint and are in excellent condition. Galvanized foldable frames for the jump seats function properly. Spare tire is like new and mounted properly to the bulkhead. Rear door jamb is solid, weather stripping good.
I have tried to describe this almost 50 year old truck honestly and to the best of my ability. I am not a mechanic. Vehicle will be sold with a bill of sale and clear Georgia title. Since the odometer has only 5 digits the mileage cannot be certified due to the age of the truck. Therefore, this truck will be sold with miles "exempt". But considering its age, history, and overall condition, I believe the odometer has not 'rolled over', and the current mileage is accurate.
THIS TRUCK IS BEING SOLD "AS IS" AND WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES. So please ask questions and if possible come and check it out in person!
Please review photos and ask questions before bidding. Most importantly, be sure you have money in hand and the full intention to finalize the transaction after you win this vehicle.
I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANY TIME AND FOR ANY REASON.

Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. On Jul-10-18 at 05:15:24 PDT, seller added the following information:additional info: As reported to me: Carb was rebuilt about 4 years ago; brake booster, brake shoes and wheel cylinders were replaced about 4 years ago; clutch and brake master cylinders replaced about 6 years ago. Exhaust system replaced probably 4-6 years ago. 4x4 transfer case not tested. If there are any mechanical problems they probably are due to the vehicle sitting for long periods of time.
