1989 Land Rover Defender Description

Here we have a 1989 Classic Land Rover Defender 200tdi 110 HI-CAP Pick Up Full Ground Up Restoration.

It was first registered: 07/07/1989. This vehicle was previously owned by a Manchester police sergeant for 2 1/2 years. It originally had a different body on the back. It had bespoke flat bed body made by the previous owner.

Please don’t confuse this with other farmyard Land Rovers that have been used as chicken hutches. You could ignore the year with the condition and what has been done to it. It has been updated with a 2008 Land Rover Defender rust free doors and Puma bonnet. The A - bar and rear bumper section actually came off her majesty the queen’s own Land Rover and was shown the original registration document from the donor vehicle; “HM Balmoral.” The bespoke body was taken off and replaced with a hi-cap 110 pick up body, that came off a 2004 Defender. Whilst the body was off we cleaned all the chassis, painted it with red oxide primer and black paint. The rear cross member was replaced at the same time.

An engineer was employed to re-create the rear bumper / step to finish the rear end off. The chassis is fantastic condition; not a patchwork quilt as usually found. The windscreen was replaced for a brand new top tinted screen with a new rubber. In fact, every rubber on this vehicle has been replaced including the front vent seals. It starts first time, every time.

An iFor Williams Aluminium canopy was fitted to this, which is rare to find; even rarer to find with a solid top iFor Williams rear door. It’s had a full expensive respray at a specialist paint shop. The seats were changed to a pair of SAAB leather adjustable seats. The whole lighting system: side lights, indicators, reverse, brake etc, have been changed to RDX LED lights with Wipac front LED lights.

It was last serviced, including oils and filters, replaced top and bottom hoses, and return pipes at mileage 56,561.
