1990 Land Rover Defender 2DR Description
This 1990 Land Rover 90 is a right-hand drive example that was purchased new in UK, refurbished in Heritage Recreation Programme style in 2009, and imported to NYS in September 2018. Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter gasoline V8 engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Service performed within the last 1,000 miles includes: engine rebuilt, using 3.9L camshaft, new pistons and rings, new bushes, seals and bearings, new pushrods, rockers and shaft, new cam chain, rockers, and shaft, new water pump, radiator and hoses, refurbished original starter motor, new clutch with new master and slave cylinders, heavy duty thrust bearing, new shocks, springs, disks, calipers and pads; new engine, transmission, differential and transfer case oils. Mechanically, the vehicle is spot on and ready to be driven to Land's End.
The truck was repainted in green during Heritage Recreation Programme upgrade, and is equipped with period Heritage correct front grill, bumpers, wheels, clocks and seats.
Alloy wheels are mounted with off-road tires (Grabber TR in perfect condition), and a spare is attached to the rear door.
The right-hand drive cabin features two black vinyl seats up front. The floors are original, with foot-well repaired. Two benches in the back comfortably sit 4, and ready to your hunting or coffee runs.
A Heritage steering wheel rests in front of English white instrumentation including a five-digit Smiths odometer that shows approximately 39k miles, with actual mileage unknown.
The chassis and bulkhead are original, unmolested, rust-free, and never welded.
The exterior paint shows some aging, in line with Land Rovers of this era, and aluminum cappings show their 1990 heritage.
