The finest on the market”. VIN SALLDHAC7BA234203 The truck on offer here is a North American Overland (NAO) built,1985 Land Rover Defender 110 2-door. This reengineered truck has been restored to better than new condition and is the finest we have seen. North American Overland is known in the Land Rover community as the creator of the finest vintage Land Rovers restorations. The goal of their builds, is not only to do the finest restoration, but to improve on the original through careful reengineering and picking and choosing the best OEM Land Rover parts from across the 33 years of Defender production. This Land Rover has under 200 miles on it since restoration, is well sorted and needs nothing. It was built with the highest attention to detail using the best parts as proven over 10 years of experience by NAO. The list of modifications and restorative work is below; -Rebuilt 300tdi turbo diesel with Bosch Mechanical fuel injection (sourced from a late 1990’s defender) -Later OEM Land Rover body panels employed throughout; stronger, galvanized steel rear door, side panels with sliding windows and smooth roof. -Land Rover R380 5 speed manual transmission rebuilt by Ashcroft Transmissions LTD; higher ratio 5th gear reduces RPM and engine noise at speed. Transfer case rebuilt by Ashcroft, using their one-piece, high-strength cross shaft and cross drilled input gear. - 24 spline front differential - Puma rear axle - Original frame with the original VIN, galvanized for rust resistance. - Upgraded interior employing new genuine Land Rover headliner - Swivel assemblies were rebuilt with new bearings and seals and were shimmed to the correct preload - Upgraded genuine Land Rover braking system including calipers, rotors, brake booster and master cylinder. - Bulkhead was sandblasted and galvanized - New floor panels - OEM Land Rover “Smooth Roof”. - Factory sunroof and alpine windows - NAO Expedition Matte Tan, - New seals and weather stripping throughtout - Modified bulkhead to allow for more front seat travel accomodating people six feet tall or taller. -The truck was assembled using all new hardware and the correct rivets. -New OEM Glass and rubber seals - Body panels stripped to bare aluminum refinished to as new using only genuine Land Rover parts. - All ancillaries components have been replaced including the water pump, vacuum pump, alternator, power steering pump and belt tensioner and driven by a new serpentine belt. - Rebuilt cooling system including new radiator, radiator hoses, fan clutch, thermostat, oil cooler lines, heater hoses, and the new style coolant expansion tank - New stainless steel exhaust system - New GKN drive shafts. - All suspension bushings have been replaced. - Springs are new genuine Land Rover heavy duty units damped with Koni Heavy Track adjustable shocks - New genuine Land Rover "Puma" seats in Mondus cloth. - Fold-down tumble seats. - Restored dashboard with VDO gauges - New OEM headliner - New heater assembly, control levers, heater switch and cables - Rebuilt steering system including tie rod, drag link and tie rod ends. heavy-duty, high-clearance tie rod units were employed. The steering box was rebuilt; the drop arm is new as well as all power steering hoses, reservoir and pump. - Rebuilt and upgraded brake system employing later style Defender parts. Vented front rotors with AP calipers. "Puma" axle came with latest style disc brakes. All new brake lines and new braided stainless brake hoses were installed. A late 90s brake pedal box was sourced to allow use of a new, larger brake booster and late model master cylinder. -The entire electrical system was replaced. A new wiring harness was sourced from Autosparks in the UK. A modern fuse box has been mated to the new harness. - A new AP clutch with an NSK throwout bearing and heavy duty clutch fork. - - New clutch system including new slave cylinder, push rod, hose, steel line and master cylinder- all genuine Land Rover. - Truck Lite LED headlights -fuel tank has been replaced and is protected by a heavy-duty aluminum skidplate. The lift pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, and injector lines have been replaced. - Goodyear Duratrac tires were selected in the stock tire size: 235 85 16 and are mounted to Wolf wheels. As can be seen, North American Overland spared no expense on the build of this truck. It is in better then new condition and performs as well as it looks. The engine compartment is fully detailed and the underside looks new (as it should as all components are new).
