This 1987 defender 90 received a full frame off restoration in 2015, at which time any repairs necessary were carried out on the frame, complete with a new rear crossmember, LS engine mountings were also welded in then the whole frame was treated to galvanizing. All body parts were painted individually in Zambezi silver including the genuine Puma hood with new doors, and then reassembled onto the vehicle, so there is no paint on any of the sealing strips etc. New galvanized inner fenders installed, old man emu springs and shocks and upgraded shock towers. Later model differentials were installed to provide 4 wheel disc brakes. A true twin exhaust system was custom made with magnaflow mufflers give this vehicle a magnificent sound, you know there’s something special about this truck as it roars down the street.... A 6.0 LS engine from a 2004 ChevySilverado was gone through and installed along with a 4 speed automatic transmission. Engine is kept cool by a high performance aluminum radiator. The interior received even more detailed attention with custom dash being made for the electronic instrumentation and vintage air air conditioning and heating system and it works really well, even here in the extreme heat of south Florida (see pic of 29 degrees air, and that was sitting stationary at idle in mid summer). Dash was trimmed to match the new exmoor trimmed front and rear seating. Touch screen Bluetooth stereo with subwoofer speakers and backup camera system was installed for nice tunes. Headliner and door panel inserts were trimmed in black alcantara material. Rear fold away seating was installed with matching trim. Station wagon single pane glass panels were installed to provide the best in interior cooling and quiet. Genuine Kahn wheels were installed with brand new terra grappler tyres. This truck is not for the faint of heart and the high performance coupled with the 90 inch wheel base can be a lot of fun if driven aggressively, but to be honest could do with a brake upgrade to keep up with the much increased performance and speed, maybe 4 wheel ventilated discs or even a twisted braking system. Vehicle was completed with a 6 figure bill by a company in Texas for a successful & prominent doctor on top of the original vehicle price and has only been driven less than 1500 miles since work was carried out, sadly a long drawn out divorce proceedings prevented him from enjoying it.
